Raksha Bandhan 2025: Celebrates the bond of protection and love between siblings.

Raksha Bandhan 2025 Wishes: Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the bond of love and protection between brothers and sisters. It is also known as Rakhi, which means a sacred thread or a knot of protection. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi on their brotherโ€™s wrists and pray for their well-being and happiness, while brothers promise to protect and support their sisters in all circumstances. Raksha Bandhan is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana, which usually falls in August.

When is Raksha Bandhan in 2025?

In 2025, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 19th. The date varies every year as it follows the lunar calendar.ย The auspicious time to tie the rakhi is during the Purnima Tithi, which begins on August 19 at 10:58 PM and ends on August 20 at 7:05 AM.ย However, it is important to note that Bhadra, which is considered inauspicious, will also begin at the same time and end at 9:01 PM on August 19. Therefore, it is advised not to celebrate Rakhi during this period. Instead, the celebration can take place on August 20, as the Purnima Tithi will still be valid until the morning.

What is the Puja Vidhi for Raksha Bandhan?

The Puja Vidhi for Raksha Bandhan is as follows:

  • The sisters should prepare a thali or a plate with a diya or a lamp, roli or vermilion, rice grains, sweets, and rakhis.
  • The brothers should sit facing east or north and the sisters should sit facing them.
  • The sisters should apply a tilak or a mark of roli and rice on their brothersโ€™ foreheads and offer them sweets.
  • The sisters should tie the rakhi on their brothersโ€™ right wrists and chant a mantra or a prayer for their welfare.
  • The brothers should give their sisters gifts or money and pledge to protect them from all evil.
  • The siblings should hug each other and exchange blessings.
