MUMBAI (India CSR): At the Annual Alumni Reunion of Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT) on December 21, 2024, PhonePe co-founders Sameer Nigam and Rahul Chari announced a transformative $1M grant to their alma mater.
The event, held at the SP Jain Auditorium, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 1999 graduating batch and welcomed over 300 alumni, including distinguished leaders from technology and business sectors.
The grant will be used to enhance infrastructure, foster innovation, and promote an entrepreneurial mindset among students. It aims to empower future innovators and leaders to develop cutting-edge solutions and drive impactful ventures.
Reflecting on the institute’s role in his journey, Rahul Chari, Co-Founder and CTO of PhonePe, said, “SPIT laid the foundation for our entrepreneurial spirit. This grant is our way of giving back and helping SPIT inspire the next generation of innovators.”
The reunion also honored outstanding alumni with the SP-Changemakers Awards, celebrating achievements in leadership, innovation, and influence.
SPIT’s Principal, Dr. B.N. Chaudhari, expressed gratitude for the generous donation, calling it a “transformative step towards positioning SPIT as Maharashtra’s leading engineering institute by 2030.”
