Laxmi India Finance spent Rs 66.57 lakh on CSR in FY 2025-26, exceeding its adjusted statutory requirement. Education received the largest allocation of Rs 40.80 lakh.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): Laxmi India Finance Limited spent Rs 66.57 lakh on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during FY 2025-26, exceeding its CSR spending requirement for the year, according to the company’s Annual Report 2025-26. The NBFC’s CSR expenditure increased by about 44.7 per cent from Rs 46 lakh in FY 2024-25 and was significantly higher than the Rs 38.30 lakh spent in FY 2023-24. The increase indicates a continued expansion in the company’s community-focused spending alongside its business growth.

Laxmi India Finance Limited (“LIFC” or “the Company” or “Laxmi India Finance”) is a Jaipur-headquartered, RBI-registered Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC).

Under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, the company’s gross CSR obligation for FY 2025-26 stood at Rs 64.70 lakh. After adjusting Rs 1.02 lakh of excess CSR expenditure from previous years, the net amount required to be spent was Rs 63.68 lakh. Laxmi India Finance ultimately spent Rs 66.57 lakh, resulting in an excess expenditure of Rs 2.89 lakh over the adjusted statutory obligation. The annual report states that this excess amount may be set off against CSR spending requirements in the immediately succeeding financial years, as permitted under the law.

Education Receives the Largest Share

Education emerged as the company’s largest CSR focus area, receiving Rs 40.80 lakh, or around 61.3 per cent of total CSR expenditure. The support covered construction and repair of school infrastructure, improvement of roofs and sanitation facilities, and provision of a school van. The company also supported books, stationery, tracksuits, children’s garments, mid-day meals and other learning-related assistance. A part of the education allocation was directed towards skill and personality development for survivors of acid attacks and burn injuries through Chhanv Foundation. The initiative aimed to improve participants’ confidence and prospects for greater social and economic independence.

Healthcare, Community Welfare and Animal Care

Healthcare initiatives received Rs 12.05 lakh, approximately 18.1 per cent of the company’s CSR expenditure. The programmes included cancer-awareness activities through the “Rhythm for a Cause” initiative, a free eye-treatment camp supported with Gulab Kaushalya Charitable Trust, and practical improvements at healthcare institutions for patients and their families. The company spent Rs 10.71 lakh on hunger eradication, poverty alleviation and community welfare. These activities included food distribution for economically vulnerable groups, blood-donation initiatives and support for elderly persons needing material and community assistance.

Animal welfare received Rs 3 lakh. Through Eco Rescuers Foundation and Go Nirvana, the company supported rescue, treatment and rehabilitation efforts, including a treatment camp for injured birds and shelter-related infrastructure. The report says that approximately half of the CSR projects were undertaken directly, while the remaining projects were implemented through partner organisations. Key implementation partners included Round Table India Trust, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Jain Vishva Bharati, Gulab Kaushalya Charitable Trust, Chhanv Foundation, Eco Rescuers Foundation and Go Nirvana.

Leadership Perspective and Governance

In his message to shareholders, Deepak Baid, Managing Director of Laxmi India Finance, said the company’s journey remains anchored in “responsible growth, asset quality, customer-centric lending, prudent risk management, and strong governance.” While this leadership message addresses the company’s overall operating approach, its CSR disclosures reflect a similar emphasis on responsible deployment. The company has stated that its future community investments will be guided by relevance, responsible deployment and the ability to create tangible benefits.

The CSR Committee, chaired by Deepak Baid, held one meeting during FY 2025-26. Mrs Aneesha Baid, Whole-Time Director, and Surendra Mehta, Independent Director, are the other members of the committee. All three members attended the meeting, according to the annual report. The committee is responsible for recommending CSR projects, monitoring utilisation of funds, reviewing expenditure, assessing programme effectiveness and ensuring that administrative overheads remain within prescribed limits.
