AHMEDABAD (India CSR): Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) reported a total CSR obligation of Rs. 22.54 crore for FY 2025-26, against which it spent Rs. 5.22 crore during the year and transferred Rs. 17.32 crore for ongoing projects to its designated Unspent CSR Account. The disclosures are part of GNFC’s FY 2025-26 Annual Report. The company stated that the transfer of the unspent amount to the designated account was made on April 24, 2026, in accordance with Section 135(6) of the Companies Act, 2013.
GNFC’s CSR obligation for FY 2025-26 was calculated as 2% of its average net profit of the preceding three financial years. The company reported an average net profit of Rs. 1,126.81 crore, resulting in a statutory CSR requirement of Rs. 22.54 crore.

Of the Rs. 5.22 crore spent against the current year’s CSR obligation, GNFC spent Rs. 5.01 crore on CSR projects, Rs. 11.51 lakh on administrative overheads and Rs. 9.59 lakh on impact assessment. The company also reported total CSR expenditure of Rs. 15.28 crore during FY 2025-26 when spending from prior-year unspent CSR balances is included. This comprised Rs. 5.22 crore against the current-year obligation, Rs. 4.91 crore from the unspent CSR amount of FY 2023-24, and Rs. 5.15 crore from the unspent amount of FY 2024-25.
GNFC’s disclosures show that Rs. 2.98 crore remained to be spent from the FY 2023-24 unspent CSR account, while Rs. 19.60 crore remained from FY 2024-25. The company said these figures include interest accrued or received on unspent sums kept in bank accounts, which will be used only for CSR purposes. The company reported no capital asset creation or acquisition from CSR expenditure in FY 2025-26. Its CSR spending covered women empowerment, rural development, livelihood enhancement, preventive healthcare, education, disaster management, environmental sustainability and gender equality. GNFC implements its CSR programmes directly and through Narmadanagar Rural Development Society (NARDES), its dedicated CSR implementation arm. Related-party CSR transactions with NARDES stood at Rs. 14.99 crore during FY 2025-26, compared with Rs. 12.98 crore in the previous year.
The Bharuch-based company said its independent impact assessment of selected CSR projects is being conducted by GPCL Consulting Services Limited. The assessment report was in the final stage of review at the time of reporting. GNFC has also launched its long-term “50 Viksit Villages, Vision 2047” initiative, which aims to transform 50 villages into self-reliant, future-ready communities and positively impact an estimated 50,000 to 75,000 rural lives.
GNFC CSR Spending in FY 2024-25
In FY 2024-25, GNFC had a higher CSR obligation of Rs. 32.64 crore, compared with ₹22.54 crore in FY 2025-26. The company spent Rs. 9.22 crore during FY 2024-25 on CSR purposes other than the creation or acquisition of capital assets.
The balance of Rs. 23.42 crore was treated as a shortfall linked to ongoing projects and transferred to the company’s Unspent CSR Account, as disclosed in GNFC’s annual-report financial statements.

GNFC transferred Rs. 23.42 crore to its Unspent CSR Account for FY 2024-25. During FY 2025-26, it utilised Rs. 5.15 crore from this FY 2024-25 unspent balance for eligible CSR activities. As a result, Rs. 19.60 crore, including interest accrued or received on the deposited balance, remained available for CSR expenditure from the FY 2024-25 account as of March 31, 2026.
The FY 2024-25 CSR expenditure was reported under community-focused areas covered by GNFC’s CSR framework, including education, healthcare, rural development, livelihoods, women empowerment, environmental sustainability, disaster management and gender equality.
