ANGUL: Keeping in view the seriousness of the rapidly spreading dengue fever in the district, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) as a responsible corporate partner has partnered with the district administration for prevention and control of the disease.
Since the 5th of August 2011, a vehicle equipped with loud speaker , brochure and Pamphlets is moving in to all periphery and surrounding villages with intensive awareness campaigns on prevention of Dengue.
The focus is on preventing water logging, mosquito control, promoting the use of mosquito nets, information on recognizing initial symptoms, appropriate time for hospitalization and to minimize public panic regarding the disease. Around 25,000 leaflets and brochures have been distributed in the villages in 55 public gatherings so far. In adherence to the suggestion of the district administration, a series of street plays is also being organised as part of the awareness drive.
JSPL along with the district administration has also taken up the fogging of mosquito repellent smokes and anti-larva treatment in the Kalam Chhuin and Talcher areas. The dengue prevention programme has been completed in 48 villages and is presently continuing in another 20. Provisions for special services at R&R Colony and Jindal Vidyapith located in Mahitala village have also been made.
Within the JSPL premises, services are available at the labour colonies as well. Acting upon the advice of the district administration, JSPL has engaged one of its senior officials to head its district-level dengue-control programme.
