Training Program for Volunteer Community Teachers by JSPL

jsplANGUL: JSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL), Angul organized a seven day-long training programme in collaboration with Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Angul, for the community teachers of peripheral vernacular medium school. The programme started on December 18, 2014 came to end on Wednesday December 24, 2014.

The programme, aimed to ensure effective classroom transaction, witnessed active participation of 87 volunteer Community Teachers contributing to 47 different schools.

The District Administration provided the Resource Person Support in terms of the OPEPA certified District Level Resource Group members cum trainers to conduct this training program. District Education Officer Mr. Sachidananda Behera congratulated the Community Teachers for their volunteering to this noble cause of educating the rural children in their own village  and said that such kind of CSR initiative of JSPL will shape up the lives of the next generation for a better tomorrow.

At the valedictory function, Dr Saroj Kumar Mahapatra, VP, HR, JSPL, while emphasising  the character building of the students  said, “If all the 87 volunteer teacher trainees contributing to  the 47 Schools of JSPL Periphery –  will give their best efforts to develop an effective, joyful and meaningful learning environment  in their respective schools, the objective of partnering with the Govt to  impart Quality education will be achieved to a large extent .”

Mr S.K. Sharma, AVP  CSR&R, JSPL, said, this programme will help the volunteer  community teachers to enhance  their teaching skill and make them capable and empowered for facilitating better classroom transaction in tune to the prescribed curriculum of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.

In order to promote quality education in the vernacular medium schools situated in JSPL periphery, the initiative of community teachers has been  one of several steps  taken by JSPL under its sustainable CSR initiatives  since 2008  to address the problem of  skewed Pupil –Teacher Ratio (PTR)  in collaboration with District Education office. Total 96 teaching and non-teaching staffs are now volunteering to participate in this noble cause of   enhancing students teacher ratio in the vernacular medium  schools.

“Community Teachers in the vernacular medium Schools of Odisha  is one of the major CSR initiatives of  JSPL to supplement and compliment the efforts of the Govt to reduce the dropout rate and improve quality education for Children in the Periphery by way of triggering the volunteer spirit of the educated local youths to educate the local Children ,” said Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Executive Director, JSPL.

Mrs. Puspalata Satapathy, DGM CSR, supported by Ms. Sunita Dwivedi , Ms. Ritamoni Borah,  Mr. Prashant Prusty conducted the Programme and thanked the District Education Officer for their support to make this event successful. Mr. Chhanda Charan Das, Principal of OP Jindal School also attended the valedictory function and encouraged the participants by sharing his experience and expertise.
