I run a small-batch jam and preserves business, sourcing fruit from local orchards, sold through our own Shopify store alongside our farmers market stand. Food products live or die on how appetizing they look, and a jar of jam photographed against a plain background rarely conveys what actually makes small-batch preserves worth a premium over the grocery store version, the visible fruit chunks, the color, the texture when a spoon pulls through it.

A fellow small food producer in a maker’s co-op mentioned UGC Maker, specifically that it worked directly from a Shopify product listing link, which mattered because between running the farmers market stand and actually making the preserves, we never had time for a proper video shoot.

Why Small Food Brands Struggle to Show What Makes Them Different

Buyers choosing a small-batch jam over a mass-market one are paying for quality they can’t fully judge from a jar photo alone, real fruit content, small production runs, no artificial thickeners. Photography communicates packaging well but doesn’t fully capture texture or the visible fruit that’s actually the selling point.

Producing video for each product the traditional way, food styling, filming, editing, competed directly with the actual hours we spend making preserves and running our market stand. Most of our catalog launched with photos alone, which left our biggest differentiator, what the product actually looks like up close, mostly unshown.

How UGC Maker Fits a Small Food Business

Starting From the Shopify Listing Once It’s Live

For each product, I take the Shopify product page URL, already photographed and described with ingredients and sourcing details, and paste it into UGC Maker, which pulls the images and details into a video with text highlights and a voiceover, no separate food styling session required.

Why a Genuine URL to Video Generator Fits a Growing Product Line

Because we add new seasonal flavors regularly as fruit comes into season, this only scales because it functions as a real url to video generator that builds a video from each new listing the same week it launches, rather than requiring a production schedule that would lag behind our actual seasonal fruit availability.

Building a Farm Story With the Avatar Maker

Beyond individual product videos, we’ve also started using UGC Maker’s avatar maker tool to create a recurring presenter for broader brand content, an overview of our sourcing process or a seasonal flavor announcement that isn’t tied to one specific jar. Having a consistent presenter helps tell our farm-to-jar story across a growing catalog of individual flavors.

What Changed for Our Sales

Products with video attached have converted noticeably better than our photo-only listings, particularly for newer seasonal flavors that don’t have the reviews yet to build trust on their own. Our farmers market stand has also benefited indirectly, customers occasionally mention seeing a product’s video online before stopping by in person.

The bigger shift is that video is now standard for every new flavor we launch, rather than something we only managed for our best-established products.

Where We Still Rely on In-Person Sampling

At the farmers market itself, actual in-person tasting still does more to convert a new customer than any video could. This solved our online marketing gap specifically. It didn’t replace the value of letting someone taste the product directly, which remains our strongest sales tool at the market stand.

Who Should Try This

  • Small food and beverage producers selling through Shopify alongside in-person markets
  • Anyone whose product’s visual appeal, texture, or ingredients are the actual selling point
  • Small producers launching new seasonal products regularly without a dedicated content team
  • Food brands wanting a consistent brand voice across a growing, ever-changing product line

Small-batch food products sell on the details a mass-market version can’t match, but those details were hard to communicate through photography alone. Being able to generate a video straight from each new listing changed how much of our catalog actually shows customers what makes it worth the premium over what’s sitting on a regular grocery shelf.
