HYDERABAD: The Micron Foundation, the non-profit arm of Micron Technology partnered with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide wholesome mid-day meals to children in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Micron will contribute $100,000 towards Akshaya Patra’s endeavour to serve hot, nutritious and hygienic meals to 5,000 children in Government and Government-aided schools in these locations, company said.
Akshaya Patra serves as the implementing partner for the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) Scheme, the Government of India’s flagship initiative to improve the health of children and bring them closer to the classroom.
The contribution will be used for the implementation of the meal programme. In providing nutritious meals to children every school day, the programme seeks to improve enrolment, attendance and retention in schools, enhance the health and energy levels of children, and improve socialization among them.
Vandana Tilak, CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation USA, said, “This partnership will help us reach 5,000 children with freshly cooked, nutritious mid-day meals every day. Such partnerships invigorate us by adding to the sustainability and impact of our endeavour.”
