NEW DELHI (India CSR): CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand Group, in collaboration with AVPN, the largest network of social investors in Asia, has named 12 grantees under the inaugural CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative. The initiative will support vulnerable children and youth across China, India, Singapore and Vietnam through programmes that strengthen education, skills development, and physical and mental well-being.

Tony Tan, Executive Director of CHF and Chief Corporate Officer of CapitaLand Development, said: “At CapitaLand, we believe that building resilience is key to the long-term sustainability and well-being of the communities where we operate.  The strong response and quality of proposals we received reaffirmed the need for meaningful, sustainable solutions.  That is why we increased the fund from S$3 million to S$3.4 million, as a reflection of our commitment to go further when the needs are clear. By supporting local non-profits who bring culturally relevant solutions, we can elevate their work and create lasting, positive change together.”

Tony Tan, Executive Director of CHF and Chief Corporate Officer of CapitaLand Development, and Dhun Davar, Chief of Programmes and Deputy CEO of AVPN (centre), with grantee representatives from the four countries at the AVPN Global Conference 2025 where the announcement was made.

Addressing social challenges across four countries

The 12 grantees will deliver programmes addressing some of the most pressing needs in the region, including:

  • China: Providing mental health support and educational opportunities to left-behind children in rural communities.
  • India: Leveraging assistive technology to enable inclusive education for children with disabilities, alongside large-scale efforts to improve access to quality teaching and empower adolescent girls.
  • Singapore: Offering entrepreneurship training for underserved youth, vocational pathways for persons with disabilities, and community-based support for children from low-income households.
  • Vietnam: Delivering education for youths-in-need, holistic caregiver support for children with disabilities, and inclusive education initiatives targeting disadvantaged communities.

Collectively, these initiatives span educational equity, leadership development, assistive technologies, arts engagement, and welfare for vulnerable groups.  Each programme is tailored to its local context yet united by a common purpose: to uplift lives, create opportunities, and build stronger, more inclusive, and resilient communities.

Dhun Davar, Chief of Programmes and Deputy CEO of AVPN, said: “CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative is a powerful example of how strategic philanthropy can build stronger, more inclusive communities by investing in local leadership.  These 12 grantees are not only addressing urgent challenges, from inclusive education to mental health and skills development, they are doing so with deep cultural knowledge and community trust.  At AVPN, we are pleased to work alongside CapitaLand Hope Foundation to support these organisations through effective fund management and capacity building.  By aligning capital with community-driven solutions, we can unlock meaningful outcomes and help shape a more resilient and equitable future for children and youth across Asia.”

Vaibhav Kumar, CEO of SwaTaleem Foundation shares: “We work with rural adolescent girls in building their agency through foundational English and critical skills. CapitaLand comes at a very exciting time for SwaTaleem, because our longer vision is that we want to serve 8.5 million girls in the next five years. We are very hopeful that we will reach that goal, with the support of partners like CapitaLand Hope Foundation.”

China, India, Singapore and Vietnam were chosen as focus countries given CapitaLand’s strong presence and long-standing community engagement in these markets.  Grant allocations are based on project scope, scalability and impact potential to ensure meaningful, measurable outcomes for children and youth.

20 years of giving, future-ready philanthropy

As CHF marks its 20th anniversary this year, CHF continues to evolve towards systemic, scalable and future-ready giving.  Since its inception in 2005, CHF has contributed more than S$64 million and supported over 540,000 beneficiaries across Asia.  The CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative builds on this legacy, driving sustainable community development and resilience for the next generation.
