JHARSUGUDA: As a part of its CSR commitment, Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda installed 12 solar lights at Biju Patnaik Chowk, Badmal and handed over the infrastructure to Jharsuguda municipality. In a symbolic event to dedicate the asset, the series of street lights was inaugurated by Dr. Sitaram Patel, ADM, Jharsuguda. Also present on the occasion were Chandra Shekhar Sahoo, General Manager Security, officials from CSR, PR and Security team of Vedanta Limited.
As a socially responsible entity, Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda has been regularly involved in numerous infrastructural development activities under its peripheral development projects. And this new initiative was well appreciated by the local governance and public. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sitaram Patel stated the relevance of the project with reference to the increasing number of road accidents and therefore the rising need for road safety. He also applauded Vedanta for its commendable initiative towards the well-being of the society.
The solar lights installed in the Badmal region will be very helpful for truck drivers and other vehicles travelling during night. It is expected to play a significant role in reducing cases of criminality along the road. The local residents present on the occasion appreciated this initiative by the company.
