The 72.5 MW solar project will supply green energy to Tata Steel Limited through TP Vardhman Surya Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), one of India’s leading renewable energy companies commissions its 72.5 MW captive project at Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan, developed for Tata Steel Limited (Tata Steel). The project marks another significant milestone in India’s clean energy journey by integrating large-scale solar generation with latest technology solutions. The project is advancing Tata Steel’s decarbonization journey and strengthening TPREL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy capacity.
The project is expected to generate 166 MUs of green energy annually and offset 1,18,856 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project deploys 1,71,360 modules for Tata Steel project, which have been manufactured by TP Solar Limited.

TPREL continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio and reinforce its position as one of India’s leading renewable energy companies. To offset around 1,18,856 tonnes of carbon emissions per annum, supporting Tata Steel’s decarbonisation and sustainability goals.

With the addition of this project, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.3 GW. Out of this around 7 GW is operational, including 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while close to 5.3 GW is under various stages of implementation, which includes 2.2 GW solar and 3.1 GW wind, which are expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 6-24 months.
