NEW DELHI: Environmental sustainability is essential for the long-term health of the planet and its inhabitants. The State Bank of India (SBI) has demonstrated its dedication to promoting environmental sustainability. During the fiscal year 2022, the bank took the initiative to plant over six lakh trees across the country.
Five projects worth Rs. 6.84 Cr were approved to plant fruit-bearing trees. The project aims to secure a crucial tiger corridor between the Melghat and Satpura Tiger reserves. It also supports the conservation of the Red Panda species in the Khangchendzonga landscape and implement an innovative public-private partnership model for dry waste management in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
The Bank Recognizes the pressing issue of climate change as a corporate social responsibility. SBI has set a goal to become a carbon-neutral organization by the year 2030. The bank has developed a carbon neutrality strategy to be implemented in phases to achieve this objective.
