NEW DELHI: Well-known CSR leader, Rajesh Sagar, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at MP Birla Group passed away due to illness, a close relative informed India CSR. “It is with deep regret that we announce the demise of Rajesh Sagar, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at MP Birla Group.”, he said.
Sagar passed away earlier today, leaving behind a legacy of 18 years of extensive experience in the field of Community Development & CSR. Throughout his career, Sagar played a key role in developing and implementing various health, environment, livelihood and skill development initiatives across different plant and mine locations in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
He was a proven expert in project writing, appraisal, evaluation, resource planning, project estimation, scheduling, tracking and implementation. He mentored a diverse group of professionals and built effective working relationships across geographic and cultural borders.
Sagar was highly skilled in Strategy Development, Management Consulting and Corporate Planning.
He was known for his interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and had a passion for training & development, customer relationship management and planning.
His sudden demise has come as a shock to his colleagues and friends in the industry. The loss of Sagar’s expertise and leadership will be felt deeply by all those who had the privilege of working with him.
As Head of MP Birla Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility had an extensive background in the field, having worked in various positions over the years. Starting with Gramin Vikas Trust as a Team Leader and Project Coordinator in 2001, they went on to work with Ambuja Cements Ltd. as Program Manager – CSR for 1 year and 5 months, where they oversaw overall CSR management at plant locations, program development and management, budget planning and monitoring, resource mobilization, networking with like-minded partners and government bodies, reporting, team management, and evaluation.
Rajesh Sagar had worked in various roles and organizations including MP Birla Cement, MIICSR consultancy and services, Adani Enterprises Ltd., Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, Jindal Power Limited Tamnar Raigarh, Ambuja Cements Limited, and Gramin Vikas Trust. The roles involved responsibilities such as CSR management, program development and management, budget planning and monitoring, resource mobilization, networking, reporting, team management, and evaluation.
The individual has experience in handling various aspects of CSR such as community-specific program design, public relations, grievance handling, policy document development, annual business plan development, education department support, monitoring and evaluation, and building relationships with project partners, consultants, contractors, NGOs, and government agencies.
