Former SBI ESG and Climate Finance executive brings two decades of banking experience to the Foundation’s social-impact mission
NEW DELHI (India CSR®): Pratyush Mehrotra has been appointed President and Chief Operations Officer of SBI Foundation. He assumed charge on June 4, 2026, marking an important leadership transition at the social-impact arm of the State Bank of India. India CSR extends heartfelt congratulations to Mehrotra on assuming this important responsibility. His appointment combines extensive banking experience with a strong understanding of environmental, social and governance priorities.
Extensive Experience in ESG and Climate Finance
Before taking charge at SBI Foundation, Mehrotra served as Deputy General Manager in the Bank’s ESG and Climate Finance Unit. In this role, he worked extensively on SBI’s ESG and climate-finance initiatives. He also contributed to charting the Bank’s pathway towards achieving Net Zero. The experience strengthened his expertise in sustainability strategy, climate action and responsible finance. Mehrotra brings around two decades of rich and diverse experience across domestic and international banking operations. His institutional knowledge is expected to support SBI Foundation in strengthening its programmes, partnerships and social impact across India.
Leadership Across Nine Areas
His leadership will shape the Foundation’s work across nine thematic areas: women’s empowerment, healthcare, education, environment and sustainability, sports, rural development, disability and inclusion, livelihoods and skill development, and youth-centric social empowerment. The appointment comes at an important time for India’s CSR ecosystem, when organisations are seeking to combine scale with inclusion, accountability and measurable outcomes. As President and COO, Mehrotra is expected to bring strategic direction, operational excellence and a sustainability-focused perspective to SBI Foundation’s nationwide initiatives. His experience in banking, ESG and climate finance could further strengthen the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable community development and its guiding spirit of “Service Beyond Banking.”
