MUMBAI: Celebrating the spirit of India’s Independence Day with a vision for a greener tomorrow, Prabhat Renewable Energy & Agro Ltd. (PREAL), in association with Saahas Trust, successfully concluded its Sustainability Essay Writing Competition, culminating in a heartwarming felicitation ceremony held on August 15.
More than just a competition, this initiative was conceived as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavour with a clear purpose—to inspire young minds to become conscious citizens and future custodians of our planet. Through this initiative, PREAL and Saahas Trust reached and sensitized over 2,500 students across five schools, encouraging them to reflect on renewable energy, environmental conservation, and their role in building a sustainable India.
The competition was conducted across:
- Children’s Academy Group of Schools, Ashok Nagar, Kandivali East
- DDET’s Swami Vivekanand High School & Junior College, Malad
- Vidya Vikasini High School (SSC & CISCE Boards), Vasai
- Shri Sangameshwar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Ahilyanagar
- Arya Academy English School, Ahilyanagar
The response from the students was inspiring. Their essays reflected thoughtful ideas, genuine concern for the environment, and a deep understanding that sustainability is not merely a choice, but a responsibility.
At the felicitation ceremony, each participating institution was honoured with the “Green Champion 2026” recognition for its outstanding efforts in nurturing environmental awareness among students and fostering a culture of sustainability. Students whose essays stood out for their originality, creativity, and vision were felicitated with certificates and stationery kits, celebrating not only their achievements but also their commitment to making a difference.
