RAIPUR (India CSR): Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka flagged off six Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) supported by REC Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The medical units, with a combined value of Rs 7.21 crore, were launched at Lok Bhawan in Chhattisgarh. The initiative is aimed at strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery and improving access to essential medical services for people living in underserved and remote areas of the state. By taking healthcare facilities closer to communities, the Mobile Medical Units are expected to help address gaps caused by distance, limited infrastructure and inadequate access to regular health services.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Satyaban Sahoo, Chief Project Manager, Regional Office Raipur, REC Limited. Officials from REC Limited and the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Chhattisgarh, were also present on the occasion.
Taking Healthcare Closer to Communities
The six MMUs will support the delivery of essential healthcare services directly within communities, particularly in areas where access to hospitals and primary health centres remains limited. Mobile healthcare infrastructure can play an important role in timely screening, consultation, awareness and referral support for patients who may otherwise face challenges in seeking medical assistance. The programme reflects REC Limited’s focus on using CSR investments to create practical and inclusive community-level impact. The collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Chhattisgarh, is expected to support the implementation and outreach of the initiative across identified locations.
Supporting a Healthier Viksit Bharat
REC Limited said the initiative aligns with its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. The deployment of mobile medical units is intended to strengthen public health outreach while ensuring that vulnerable and underserved populations can access essential services closer to home. As Chhattisgarh continues to address healthcare access challenges across rural and hard-to-reach regions, such CSR-led interventions can complement existing health systems. The MMU initiative also contributes to the wider vision of building a healthier, more inclusive and equitable Viksit Bharat.
