India’s fragrance market is evolving rapidly as consumers increasingly seek products that align with local climate conditions and lifestyle requirements. While global perfume brands have traditionally dominated the market, Indian fragrance companies are now focusing on developing solutions tailored to the unique environmental conditions of the country.

One such emerging brand is Lurance, which aims to create fragrances designed specifically for Indian weather patterns, consumer preferences, and everyday use.

Understanding Fragrance Performance in Indian Conditions

India’s diverse climate presents unique challenges for fragrance users. High temperatures, humidity, long commuting hours, and outdoor activities can influence how long a fragrance lasts on the skin.

According to industry observations, many consumers often seek fragrances that offer longer-lasting performance and remain effective throughout the day, particularly during warmer months.

Recognizing these requirements, Lurance has focused its efforts on product development and formulation strategies intended to improve fragrance longevity and overall user experience.

Building a Brand Around Product Development

Founded by Suprekhya Chhotaray, who has experience in community development initiatives, and led by Uditanshu Parida, an MBA graduate with a background in business and product development, Lurance positions itself as a brand focused on innovation within the fragrance category.

According to the company, significant time was invested in research, formulation, and testing before launching products in the market. The objective was to create fragrances capable of performing effectively in varying Indian weather conditions.

The company states that its product development process involved extensive experimentation and multiple formulation trials before finalizing its fragrance range.

Focus on Fragrance Composition

Lurance states that its products are formulated with higher fragrance oil concentrations than many conventional offerings available in the market. The company believes this approach may contribute to improved fragrance retention and a longer-lasting scent experience.

In addition, the brand highlights the use of ingredients sourced and selected with Indian climatic conditions in mind. According to the company, these ingredients were chosen to support performance in warmer environments while maintaining fragrance quality.

Product Innovation and Fragrance Technology

The company has introduced what it describes as a proprietary fragrance-release approach designed to provide a more sustained scent experience throughout the day.

According to Lurance, this technology aims to support gradual fragrance diffusion over time, helping users maintain a consistent fragrance profile during daily activities.

The company positions this innovation as part of its broader effort to create products that align with the practical needs of Indian consumers.

Designed for Active Lifestyles

Lurance says its products are intended for individuals with active schedules, including working professionals, fitness enthusiasts, students, travelers, and others who spend extended periods outdoors.

The brand believes that modern consumers increasingly seek products that can support long working hours, travel, outdoor exposure, and dynamic daily routines without frequent reapplication.

Customer Response and Market Feedback

According to company-provided information, Lurance has sold more than 7,000 units through offline channels and events. The company also reports a significant level of repeat purchases and positive customer feedback.

Lurance states that many customers have highlighted fragrance longevity and overall product performance among the reasons for repeat purchases.

These figures and customer experiences are based on information shared by the company.

Pricing and Market Positioning

Lurance operates within the premium-affordable fragrance segment, offering products priced between approximately ₹700 and ₹800 for a 30 ml bottle.

The company positions its offerings as an alternative for consumers seeking a balance between affordability, performance, and fragrance quality.

Social Impact and Workforce Development

Beyond product development, Lurance says it is working to create social impact through its supply chain and workforce practices.

According to the company, its operations involve employment opportunities for women and members of underserved communities, along with initiatives aimed at supporting financial inclusion and skill development.

The company has also expressed its intention to continue investing in workforce development as it expands its operations.

Looking Ahead

As India’s fragrance industry continues to grow, brands are increasingly focusing on innovation, localization, and consumer-centric product development.

Lurance believes that fragrances designed specifically for Indian conditions can help address the evolving expectations of consumers who seek performance-oriented products suited to their daily lifestyles.

With its emphasis on product research, local relevance, and workforce development, the company aims to strengthen its position within India’s growing fragrance market.

Note: Product performance, longevity claims, sales figures, customer feedback, and other business-related information mentioned in this article are based on information provided by the company and have not been independently verified.
