The EdTech sector is at a crucial point of changes happening at a very fast pace, as schools and educational institutions strive to integrate digital learning into their core practices. With the rise of smart devices and diverse operating systems, the challenge lies in creating learning platforms that seamlessly integrate with this digital ecosystem. One company that has undertaken this challenge head-on is iDream Education, led by two Co-Founders Rohit Prakash and Puneet Goyal.
Through persistent innovation, iDream Education has built a platform that works seamlessly across devices and operating systems, providing an inclusive and accessible learning experience for students in India.
Rohit Prakash, Co-Founder of iDream Education, highlights a fundamental truth: “One of the biggest barriers to quality education is cost.
When it comes to digital learning, hardware and operating systems represent a significant cost. However, this can become a barrier to accessing quality digital content. In India, a diverse spectrum of schools exists, with students having access to various devices. Some have 0 to limited access to a low-end smartphone, several have old laptops still using Windows 9 version while of course there are many who are using tablets or high-end iOS devices. This disparity in device access can create a significant gap in educational opportunities.
This highlights the need for a learning platform that can enable universal access
iDream Education‘s vision statement summarizes their commitment to overcoming this barrier: “Facilitating Universal Access to LEARNING and GROWTH.” To be truly able to achieve universal learning, they knew that they would have to remove the hardware and hence the cost barrier to learning. Therefore, they developed a learning platform compatible with all hardware devices and operating systems. By doing this, they eliminated dependency on specific hardware devices or OS and are ensuring that anyone can access iPrep and all the local language content with no additional cost burden.
Some insights from Rohit Prakash on their Journey of building a learning platform compatible with all hardware devices and operating systems
“The path to achieving universal compatibility was a long road. It required meticulous development and testing to ensure that iPrep could function seamlessly across a diverse array of devices and operating systems. The team at iDream Education worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality”.
Today, iPrep is truly inclusive
He further highlighted, “It is compatible with many hardware devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, Kyan Projectors, smart TVs, projectors, interactive whiteboards, Chromebooks, and more. Additionally, it functions across Windows, Android, Web, and iOS platforms, with the potential for Linux compatibility with minor updates as per implementation requirements.”
Some Insights from the Ground Work
The compatibility of the Learning Platform with hardware devices and OS has provided iDream Education with incredible opportunities to work in schools with underutilized Windows devices and those seeking to deliver digital learning at the most affordable cost using Smart TVs. Last year, iDream Education with its social sector partner enabled at-home digital learning to 7,500 girl children in Uttar Pradesh, who accessed iPrep on various low-end Android devices. An independent study revealed a 32% improvement in English, a 52% improvement in Math, and a 34% improvement in Science compared to baseline scores. The progress is a sign of iPrep’s capability to operate seamlessly across different devices and operating systems.
