MUMBAI (India CSR): India ESG Summit being organised on May 31 in Mumbai is a significant global forum that is taking the COP26 agenda and India’s commitments forward.
Under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, India has articulated and put across the concerns of developing countries at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) on November 2, 2021, during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Rusen Kumar, Founder of India CSR and Convenor of India ESG Summit said that in the midst of this global brainstorming on climate change, on behalf of India, the Honorable Prime Minister of India has presented five nectar elements, ‘Panchamrit’, to deal with this challenge.
According to the commitment by 2030, India will take its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW. The country will meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy. It will reduce the total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes from now till 2030. By 2030, India will also reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by more than 45%. By the year 2070, India will achieve the target of Net-Zero.
Topics of the summit are closely aligned with India’s environmental challenges, the COP26 agenda, and India’s commitment to climate change action.
