Every year, Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder that the responsibility of protecting our planet rests with each one of us individuals, communities and industries alike. As businesses continue to grow and innovate, the need to embed sustainability into core operations has never been more urgent. Automotive Industry at the Centre of Climate Action
The automotive component industry is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by global climate goals, evolving regulatory frameworks and increasing stakeholder awareness. As part of this transition, companies must actively reduce their environmental footprint while enabling cleaner mobility solutions. Our sustainability journey is guided by measurable commitments and concrete actions that align with global climate priorities.
Science-Based Targets for Decarbonization
One of the key milestones in our climate strategy is our Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment to reduce carbon emission intensity by 42% by 2030. This ambitious target reflects our belief that meaningful climate action requires structured, science-backed commitments. Through operational efficiencies and cleaner technologies, we have already achieved a 29% reduction in carbon emission intensity from our FY 2022–23 baseline, marking a significant step forward in our decarbonization roadmap.
Renewable Energy Driving the Transition
Transitioning to renewable energy is another crucial pillar of our sustainability agenda. In FY 2024–25, 24% of our total energy consumption came from renewable sources, helping reduce dependence on conventional energy and supporting India’s broader clean energy transition. This progress is complemented by continuous investments in energy efficiency initiatives across our manufacturing facilities, which have resulted in a 6% reduction in energy intensity.
Water Conservation and Waste Reduction
Water conservation and responsible waste management are equally critical components of sustainable industrial growth. Over the past year, we have achieved a 38% reduction in water discharge, supported by improved recycling systems and water optimization practices. Our efforts toward resource efficiency have also led to an 8% reduction in waste intensity, reinforcing our commitment to responsible production and circular economy principles.
Building an Inclusive and Equitable Workplace
Beyond environmental stewardship, sustainability at Spark Minda also encompasses social responsibility and inclusive growth. We take pride in building a workplace that values diversity and accessibility. Today, our organization employs over 1,300 persons with disabilities, reflecting our commitment to creating opportunities and empowering communities. By fostering an inclusive workplace, we aim to ensure that progress is shared and equitable.
Nature Restoration Through Tree Plantation
Nature restoration is another area where industry can make a tangible difference. As part of our environmental initiatives, over 43,000 trees have been planted, contributing to carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration. While tree plantation alone cannot solve the climate crisis, it represents an important step toward rebuilding ecological balance.
