MIW foundation with support of Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd. has organized a Self Defense Training Workshop for girl students of Acharya Narendra Dev College (University of Delhi) Govindpuri, Kalkaji, New Delhi conducted by Delhi Police.The workshop commenced from 18 March, 2013 and ended on 2 April, 2013 wherein more than 125 girl students benefited from this workshop.

NEW DELHI: MIW foundation with support of Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd organized a Self Defense Training Workshop for girl students of Acharya Narendra Dev College (University of Delhi) Govindpuri, Kalkaji, New Delhi conducted by Delhi Police in the college premises. It was more than a 10-day Training workshop where more than 125 girl students participated and were trained on various techniques of Self Defense.
The workshop deliberated on various dimensions of training in self-defense to the girl students including psychological and legal aspects as well as the role of police. The participants also discussed the methods of self-defense like Judo – Karate, Tae-kwon-do etc. The self defense guidance includes How, when and where to strike the attacker, what to do from the floor, Learning the vulnerable zones, Escape from grabs and choke holds etc.
The workshop was a tremendous success with students turning out in large numbers and they all felt encouraged by the endeavor of the workshop to enable them fight with the evil of eve-teasing and other sexual harassment.
In the function Certificates of Participation were awarded to Girl Students of College who participated in the workshop and Letter of Appreciation were awarded to Inspector Renu Lata Delhi Crime Branch Women Self Defense Head, Mr.Vikas B Sharma (Director), Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd.; Delhi Police Team; Dr. Savithri Singh, Principal, Acharya Narendra Dev College and other teachers and staff of college who actively participated in this workshop to make this workshop a sucess”.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashish Bhutani, Managing Trustee, of MIW Foundation said, “The workshop was designed to make women more aware, prepared, and ready for any situation that may occur in their everyday life. This workshop teaches the women how to avoid the emergency attacks and protect herself. This training will make you feel more empowered and confident. I think these kinds of workshops are necessary for all girls considering the fact that there has been a recent spurt in the crimes against women and it has become essential that every woman should know how to protect herself against such crimes, should also be aware of emergency helplines in case of emergency and more importantly about her legal rights as well.”
Mr.Vikas B Sharma, Director of Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd. expressed his concern over safety of Women in India and shared that in order to stop crime, everyone in the society needs to work together in unity. we will get similar workshops conducted in other cities as well. Besides Self Defence Training Workshops for Women we are working jointly with NGO – MIW Foundation on other social issues so that our society can benefit from such programs. Our continuous endeavor is to serve humanity through such social activities which are organized from time to time.”
