Programme now records 51.1 million patient interactions through 211 Mobile Medical Units operating across 21 states and nearly 2,919 villages
MUMBAI (India CSR): As India continues to strengthen primary healthcare and improve access to essential medical services beyond hospitals, Wockhardt Foundation, the humanitarian arm of Wockhardt Ltd., announced that its flagship Mobile1000 programme has surpassed 50 million patient interactions across the country. Having crossed the milestone during the first half of 2026, the programme has now recorded 51.1 million patient interactions, reflecting the growing importance of mobile healthcare in improving timely access to primary care for underserved communities.
The milestone comes at a time when India is strengthening its primary healthcare ecosystem through different initiatives, which have expanded to over 1.86 lakh operational centres nationwide. While this has significantly improved access to comprehensive primary healthcare, ensuring timely care for geographically remote and underserved communities remains an ongoing priority. In this context, technology-enabled mobile healthcare models are playing an increasingly important role by complementing the public healthcare system and extending consultations, diagnostics, preventive care and referrals closer to where people live.
Operating through 211 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) across 21 states, nearly 73 districts and approximately 2,919 villages, Wockhardt Foundation’s Mobile1000 has emerged as one of India’s largest technology-enabled mobile primary healthcare programmes. Built on the Foundation’s ADCR (Awareness, Diagnosis, Cure and Referral) model, the initiative delivers free doctor consultations, essential diagnostics, branded generic medicines, preventive health screenings, community awareness and referrals. Supported by digital patient records and point-of-care diagnostic capabilities, the programme enables early diagnosis, timely treatment and seamless referrals, helping improve access to quality primary healthcare for underserved communities.

From supporting elderly patients with chronic conditions to enabling early diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, the programme demonstrates how bringing primary healthcare closer to communities can improve health outcomes while reducing delays in care.
Building on this milestone, Wockhardt Foundation plans to expand Mobile1000 towards its vision of 1,000 Mobile Medical Units, while strengthening digital diagnostics, telemedicine capabilities and partnerships with governments and corporate CSR organisations to further improve last mile healthcare delivery across rural and urban India.
