  • HMIF’s Sparsh Sanjeevani initiative has successfully made healthcare facilities accessible to over 1.5 million people across 7 States
  • Combination of Telemedicine Centres and Mobile Medical Unit bring dependable health care to the doorstep of rural India
  • Helps save 16.5 lakh kilometres of travel and over INR 16 Crores worth of community expenses including the cost of medicines, doctor consultation fee and clinical expenses
  • Total outlay of INR 43.9 Crores committed between FY 2021-24, contributing INR 1,200 – 1,500 per patient through this unique healthcare program

GURUGRAM (India CSR): Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), reaffirms its dedication to social welfare and humanitarian values through ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ initiative. Launched in 2021, this effort has made affordable healthcare facilities available to over 1.5 million people in rural areas across seven states in India.

Hyundai’s Healthcare Initiative: Sparsh Sanjeevani

Aligned to Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’, this initiative provides easy, affordable and dependable access to specialized healthcare with 35 telemedicine clinics and mobile medical unit across 7 states in India including Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha.

Commitment to Community Welfare

Speaking on the impact of this initiative, Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head – Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “Sparsh Sanjeevani is a testament to our commitment towards community welfare and healthcare accessibility. Through this initiative, we aim to provide easy access to essential healthcare services in the deprived sections of rural India. By extending these services, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who are bereft of basic healthcare services.”

Enabling Access to Healthcare Services

Hyundai Motor India Foundation recognises that a healthy population is essential for the development of the nation. Through this endeavour, Sparsh Sanjeevani’s telemedicine clinics are playing a pivotal role in enabling access to healthcare services for rural communities by connecting specialist doctors in metropolitan cities with patients in the hinterlands.

Expansion Plans for Greater Impact

Seeing the impact of this initiative, HMIF plans to replicate this proven model across 7 more regions with 15 telemedicine centres and 10 mobile medical units in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. With a consolidated presence across 14 regions, 50 telemedicine centres and 10 mobile medical units, HMIF seeks to extend the reach further, benefitting more people and communities, and ensuring access to quality healthcare for all.

Under Sparsh Sanjeevani, HMIF has implemented two key programmes:

  • Telemedicine Centre: These nurse-assisted clinics facilitate remote consultations with specialist doctors via video calls, ensuring patients receive expert opinion without the need to travel far. Additionally, these clinics have tie-ups with regional diagnostic labs for essential tests, and provide medications and prescriptions post-consultation.
  • Mobile Medical Unit: A mobile healthcare unit staffed with doctors, nurses and pharmacists delivers healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of rural communities, bridging the gap in healthcare accessibility.

A significant investment of INR 43.9 Crores have been committed towards this initiative between FY 2021-24, out of which INR 23.14 Crores have already been deployed till FY 2023, and INR 20.76 Crores have been allocated further for expansions till FY 2025. An average of INR 1,200 – 1,500 per patient has been spent under this unique program.

Most common ailments treated under this initiative are flu, respiratory tract infections, joint pain, diabetes and dermatological conditions. The ratio between male and female beneficiaries ranges between 40-55% depending on the region, ensuring inclusive coverage across all age groups.
