The hospital’s 500th birth marks a turning point for families across one of Maharashtra’s most remote districts
Gadchiroli, August 26, 2026: In a path breaking achievement, Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital (LKAMH) in Gadchiroli recently delivered its 500th baby. The achievement marks a milestone in the hospital’s healthcare journey that started in 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director, Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited, said, “These aren’t just 500 births; these are 500 families who didn’t have to leave home to get the care they needed. That was the core idea when we started the Kali Ammal Hospital, so that people from remote and tribal areas don’t have to go through the hassle of travelling too much for medical help. I am grateful to our doctors, nurses and para medical staff for getting us here, and we’re committed to build a life-long experience of providing the best facilities to our patients in the region.”
Echoing the sentiment, Kirthy Reddy, Director, Lloyds Infinite Foundation, said, “Every delivery is a responsibility not only towards the baby, but also towards the mother and the entire family. Located in Hedri, Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital was established with the aim to bring quality healthcare closer to underserved communities in Gadchiroli, and the surrounding remote and tribal areas. The hospital provides healthcare services free of cost so that financial constraints and distance do not become barriers in accessing essential medical care.
Recently, LKAMH also managed a high-risk premature triplet delivery through C-section. In the coming years, the hospital plans to strengthen and expand its maternal and newborn-care services. The current milestone reflects a growing sense of access and reassurance for families in one of Maharashtra’s most remote districts, where timely and quality maternal healthcare can make a difference to the lives of mothers and newborns.
