The company signed MoUs for plantation of 1 million trees with the state forest departments of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh as part of the commitment to plant 2 million trees by 2030.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): Cairn Oil & Gas, a Vedanta Group company, has made significant strides in its journey toward Net Zero by 2030. This year, the company reduced 119,000 tCO2e emissions, bringing its four-year total to an impressive 229,000 tCO2e—a reduction equivalent to saving over 12 million trees. These achievements highlight Cairn’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation, the company said.
Cairn has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Environment Programme’s OGMP 2.0 initiative, making it the first Indian oil and gas producer to commit to advanced methane emission management. Over four years, the company has curtailed potential gas flaring by 60%, significantly reducing methane emissions.
Through community programs, Cairn has transformed 192 million lives and surpassed its digital education goals, reaching 23.5 million students via its E-kaksha initiative.
