Enables continuous monitoring, risk scoring and structured visibility across the supplier lifecycle

Strengthens supplier governance through ESG awareness, capability building and corrective-action support, including for MSMEs

NEW DELHI (India CSR):  Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, announced the successful deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk capabilities. The deployment marks a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation and sustainability journey, establishing a technology-enabled framework to assess, monitor and manage supplier risks integrated within the Business ERP platform while strengthening transparency, resilience and responsible sourcing across its procurement ecosystem.

India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, Jindal Stainless, had an annual turnover of INR 42,955 crore (USD 4.86 billion) in FY26 and an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes. This initiative builds on the Company’s existing supplier risk assessment practices, transitioning from periodic, largely manual assessments to a digital-first model with continuous monitoring and enhanced visibility of risk indicators.

With ESG indicators embedded within supplier profiles, procurement teams can identify risk signals earlier, support more informed sourcing decisions and maintain structured, audit ready information for governance and compliance. The deployment also strengthens the integration of supplier risk management with the Company’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Commenting on the development, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Abhyuday Jindal, said, “Digital transformation and sustainability have become critical pillars in building resilient and responsible businesses. At Jindal Stainless, we are using technology not only to strengthen operational efficiency, but also to embed greater transparency, accountability and environmental focus across our value chain. This approach brings together our digital and sustainability priorities to create stronger systems of governance and enable more informed, responsible business decisions.”

The implementation brings together ESG-focused capabilities including supplier risk classification, questionnaire-based ESG evaluation, risk scoring, continuous monitoring of risk signals and structured visibility for procurement stakeholders. These capabilities are integrated across key stages of the supplier lifecycle, including onboarding, sourcing and award-related decision-making.

Commenting on the development, Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent, said, “The future competitiveness of India’s industrial sector will increasingly depend on the resilience, transparency, and sustainability of its supply chains. Organizations that can effectively embed ESG considerations into operational decisions will be better positioned to navigate evolving stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements. Jindal Stainless’ deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk demonstrates how digital technologies can help enterprises transform supplier risk management from a periodic exercise into a continuous, intelligence-led process that drives long-term business value.”

The platform also provides a centralised interface for suppliers to share risk-related information, submit documents and provide ongoing updates. As part of its responsible sourcing journey, Jindal Stainless will conduct supplier awareness and training workshops and support suppliers in identifying areas for improvement and developing corrective action plans based on their ESG risk profiles. This will enable suppliers, including MSMEs, to better understand their ESG performance and strengthen their readiness to meet evolving sustainability expectations.
