The AI Shift: Anmol Sadarangani on How India Is Reimagining the Future of Business

Artificial Intelligence is no longer sitting inside research labs or appearing only in futuristic conversations. It is quietly becoming part of the everyday machinery of business—helping companies understand customers, build products faster, automate repetitive work, analyse information and make decisions with greater speed. Anmol Sadarangani believes India is now entering a stage where AI is moving from being an exciting technology to becoming a genuine business advantage.

India’s pace of adoption is particularly interesting. Deloitte’s 2026 India findings indicate that 40% of respondents report significant or fully scaled AI usage, compared with around 28% globally. What makes this even more significant is where businesses are applying it. Product development, strategy and operations, marketing and sales, and supply chain functions are emerging as some of the strongest areas of AI adoption.

For Sadarangani, these numbers represent something bigger than technology adoption. They reflect a change in the way entrepreneurs think about efficiency and growth. “AI is not simply about replacing a task that a person used to do. It is about asking whether that task can now be done faster, smarter and at a completely different scale,” he explains. This shift is encouraging businesses to rethink workflows instead of simply adding another software tool to their existing processes.

From More People to Better Outcomes

One of the industries experiencing this change most directly is India’s technology-services sector. The country’s approximately $315-billion IT-services industry was built around talent, expertise and large delivery teams. AI is now beginning to change that traditional equation.

Clients are increasingly looking for productivity, speed and measurable business outcomes rather than simply increasing the number of developers working on a project. The conversation is gradually moving from “How many people are working on this?” to “What result can we achieve, and how quickly?”

That could have a profound impact on the future of India’s IT industry.

Rather than making human talent irrelevant, AI has the potential to make skilled professionals significantly more productive. Developers can spend less time on repetitive coding. Marketers can analyse audiences faster. Designers can explore more concepts. Business teams can process information in minutes that once required hours of manual effort.

The real competitive advantage, therefore, may belong to businesses that successfully combine human creativity with machine intelligence.

AI Is Becoming a Business Mindset

Perhaps the most important part of the AI revolution is that it is changing the questions entrepreneurs ask.

A few years ago, businesses were asking, “Should we use AI?” Today, the more important question is, “Where can AI fundamentally change the way we operate?”

That distinction matters.

A company that uses AI only to write emails or create social media captions may gain incremental efficiency. A company that redesigns its customer service, product development, analytics and decision-making around AI could potentially create an entirely different business model.

Sadarangani sees this as one of the biggest opportunities for India’s next generation of entrepreneurs. The country already has a strong technology workforce, a rapidly expanding digital economy and a vibrant startup ecosystem. AI can add another layer to that foundation—allowing Indian companies not only to provide technology services to the world, but also to build intelligent products and businesses of their own.

The Human Side of the AI Revolution

There is understandably a lot of discussion around whether AI will take away jobs. But the more interesting story may be how AI changes the nature of work.

Repetitive work can increasingly be automated, while human professionals can devote more time to ideas, relationships, leadership, creativity and complex problem-solving. In that sense, AI could become less of a replacement for human potential and more of an amplifier of it.

“The biggest opportunity is not humans versus AI,” says Sadarangani. “It is humans with AI.”

That philosophy could become increasingly important as AI moves deeper into mainstream business.

The next chapter of India’s AI story will not be defined by who has access to the most advanced technology. It will be defined by who knows how to use it meaningfully. The companies that succeed may be those willing to rethink old processes, experiment with new models and measure AI not by how impressive the technology looks, but by the value it creates.

India is already showing that it can adopt AI at scale. The next question is far more exciting: What will Indian businesses build when AI becomes a fundamental part of how they think, operate and grow?

For Anmol Sadarangani, that is where the real AI revolution begins.
