VijayBhoomi provides a platform for discourse regarding choosing law as a career option in India
VijayBhoomi University, India’s first liberal professional university that promises to offer Legal Curriculum 4.0, gave academics a framework to help students make a more informed choice.
A panel discussion on “A Career in Law in the New Decade” was held which was presided over by prominent personalities from the law fraternity. The panelists included Samar Bansal, a noted advocate in the field of Competition and Corporate Law Sarvjeet Moond, Executive Director of the Centre for Communication and Governance at the National Law University, Delhi.
Shohini Sengupta, Former Lead(Law) at Esya Centre, and Mr. Toshit Shandilya, Senior Associate (Competition Law) at AZB & Partners.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Navneet Sharma, Dean, VijayBhoomi School of Business, introduced VijayBhoomi University, saying, “It is imperative schools place special emphasis on social responsibility. A gap has been observed between Law as taught in schools and the actual practice. Our objective should be to bridge this gap. The industry-relevant legal Curriculum 4.0 ensures that students learn the core concepts, theories, and skills at the intersection of business, technology, and law.”
The panel discussion shed more light on law and forensics and a lawyer’s role in changing policy. The experts juxtaposed litigation as a career in the ’90s with litigation as a career in the present, further illuminating the role of law firms in shaping the economy.
Dr Avinash Dadich, the Dean of VijayBhoomi Law School gave further insights into Curriculum 4.0. “In this day and age, technology tends to percolate every aspect of life and has social, cultural and economic impacts. This necessitates a comprehensive view of the same. Business functions are increasingly AI-driven, with corporate and individual liabilities emanating from AI and business decisions leading to growing opportunities in both law and technology. Legal Curriculum 4.0 promises to produce a batch of adept, and holistic legal professionals who are future-ready,” he added.
