NEW DELHI: Vedanta, the global, diversified natural resources, group of companies has appointed Mukesh Bhavnani as Group Legal Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, effective April 2015. In his role, Bhavnani leads the legal function at Vedanta, and will be a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the leadership.
Bhavnani is also inducted as a member of Vedanta’s Executive Committee, (leadership team) which supports the Board of the company and oversees the implementation of the Group’s strategic initiatives set by the Board.
“Mukesh Bhavnani joins as an asset to the Vedanta team, with proven accomplishments in implementing and monitoring strategic decisions on legal matters, structuring and negotiating Joint Ventures/ Mergers & Acquisitions, evaluating value propositions and building the reputation of businesses before courts, regulators and the community,” said Tom Albanese, Group CEO and the Chair of the Executive Committee, welcoming Mr. Bhavnani to the Vedanta team.
Bhavnani is a Law graduate from the University of Mumbai and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. His experience of 37 years includes two decades at Corporate Management level in India and parts of North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East, across roles in Legal, Secretarial, Corporate Affairs, M&A and Compliance is in global corporates such as Bharti Enterprises, Essar Group, Sony entertainment, Max New York Life, Coca Cola India and Godrej Group.
