YES BANK Conducts Workshops on Women in Banking to Promote Financial Literacy among Women

Unique YES-COMMUNITY initiative reaches out to over 25,000 women across India

MUMBAI:  YES BANK has conducted workshops across its branches pan India, focusing on women in Banking and promoting financial literacy among women. YES BANK under its community engagement platform YES COMMUNITY, has conducted these workshops, since the International Women’s day, with an objective to provide access to banking sector as a career for women and to provide basic financial education relating to personal finance, enabling individuals to take effective action to improve overall well-being and avoid financial distress, an imperative for sustainable development.

Yes-BankWell over 25,000 women across all walks of life, participated in these sessions, conducted with an aim to sensitize them towards the importance of financial planning and enable them to evolve as financially responsible and aware citizens.

Highlighting the importance of Financial Literacy for women, Namita Vikas, Senior President and Country Head, Responsible Banking, YES BANK Ltd said, “Banking has traditionally been a preferred career option for women and they have performed exceptionally well in this space. However, there is a need for financial literacy on a large scale to motivate more women to choose banking as a career opportunity. Today, when women are increasingly taking up roles of financial responsibility, it is important that there is a supportive eco-system to build their capabilities. With the new Government’s focus on financial inclusion, there has been a renewed vigor to remove financial barriers at all levels. YES BANK is reaching out to women through this initiative to equip them with resources that will enable them to embrace financial independence and a possible career in banking”.

Speaking about the event, Rana Kapoor, Managing Director and CEO, YES BANK said “The YES-COMMUNITY program is our pivotal social engagement program through which YES BANK endeavours to make a meaningful contribution to the needs of the local community that we are a part of. These span diverse areas such as Education, Women Empowerment, Health & Wellness and Senior Citizen welfare as well as social financial stability & literacy programmes. The YES-COMMUNITY program also promotes a sense of responsibility and awareness amongst over 10,000 YES BANK employees. These engagements under YES-COMMUNITY have helped YES BANK build relationships with its immediate communities that go beyond transactional banker-customer relations to engender trust.”

YES BANK advocates inclusive public, social and sustainable environmental development, through YES-COMMUNITY-ucted across over 630 YES BANK branches across all 28 states andonnects with all stakeholders in the Branch Serving Area and builds a strong connect with the immediate community. Every month all YES BANK branches conduct activities in association with Residential societies, NGOs, Educational institutions, administrative bodies, Industry Associations and promote Financial Literacy & Inclusion, Child Education, Social and Environmental welfare, Women Empowerment, Health & Wellness.
