GUJARAT (India CSR): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat starting August 25, 2025, to inaugurate transformative housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and launch infrastructure initiatives worth Rs 5,477 crore. From a vibrant roadshow in Ahmedabad to laying the foundation for critical urban and rural development projects, the visit underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing living standards and connectivity in Gujarat.

Ahmedabad Welcomes PM with Grand Roadshow

On the evening of August 25, PM Modi will kick off his visit with a 3-km roadshow from Naroda to Nikol in Ahmedabad, expected to draw nearly one lakh enthusiastic supporters. The event will set the stage for the inauguration of 1,449 homes and 130 shops, built at a cost of Rs 133.42 crore under PMAY (Urban) in the Ramapir Tekra slum area. This initiative, part of the in-situ slum redevelopment program, aims to provide dignified housing to urban poor communities, aligning with the government’s vision of ‘Housing for All.’

Urban Infrastructure Gets a Major Push

In Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for upgrading the SP Ring Road from a four-lane to a six-lane expressway-standard corridor. Executed in two phases under the hybrid annuity model, this project will enhance traffic flow and safety for commuters. Additionally, a Rs 27-crore water pumping station in Daskroi taluk, paired with a 23-km trunk main pipeline, will supply clean drinking water to 10 villages under the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) through the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Other key projects include stormwater drainage systems in Shela, Manipur, Godhavi, Sanathal, and Telav, alongside urban enhancements like the redevelopment of Law Garden and Mithakhali precincts with modern street furniture. New water distribution stations in Thaltej, Naranpura, and Chandkheda wards, a mini sports complex in Sarkhej, and a revamped railway overbridge between Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations are also on the agenda.

Gandhinagar’s Urban Development Leap

In Gandhinagar, PM Modi will launch urban development projects worth ₹281 crore. These include two sewage pumping stations in TP-24 Randheja, a stormwater drainage line in Pethapur, and a parallel road to the Metro Rail between Dholakuva and Pancheshwar Circle, costing Rs 72 crore. Additional initiatives involve laying water and sewer lines in Koba, Raysan, and Randesan, as well as renovating the Bhat-Motera Link Road to improve connectivity.

Mehsana’s Rail and Infrastructure Boost

On August 26, the Prime Minister will head to Mehsana district to launch projects worth Rs 1,796 crore. A highlight will be the inauguration of railway projects exceeding ₹1,400 crore, including the doubling of the 65-km Mehsana–Palanpur line and gauge conversion of the 37-km Kalol–Kadi–Katosan and 40-km Becharaji–Ranunj lines. These upgrades will enhance rail connectivity, fostering economic growth in the region. PM Modi will also flag off two new trains, further strengthening Gujarat’s transport network.

Electric Mobility Milestone at Maruti Suzuki

The visit will conclude with the inauguration of Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle production line, the e-Vitara, at its Hansalpur facility near Ahmedabad. This milestone underscores India’s push toward sustainable mobility and aligns with the government’s vision of promoting green technology in the automotive sector.

Gujarat’s Growth Trajectory

The projects launched during this visit reflect a strategic focus on urban renewal, housing, and connectivity. From empowering slum dwellers with modern homes to bolstering infrastructure for seamless transport and access to clean water, PM Modi’s initiatives aim to transform Gujarat into a model of inclusive development. The roadshow and public engagements will also provide an opportunity for the Prime Minister to connect with citizens, reinforcing the government’s commitment to progress.
