Traffic violations in Telangana are not uncommon. No matter how responsibly you drive, there is a chance of violating a traffic rule while driving on Telangana roads. The Telangana Traffic Police has initiated the TS E-Challan system to streamline traffic rules enforcement and penalising processes.

If you are a resident of this state or often drive through Telangana, then knowing how to check the status of your e challan Telangana is crucial. This blog serves as a guide to TS e-challan along with its definition, status-checking process, and more.

Understanding Telangana E-Challan System

TS e-challan is a traffic ticket system that is levied by the Government of Telangana to address traffic violations effectively and promptly. The system captures real-time traffic violations using strategically located surveillance cameras, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) technologies and more.

If a vehicle is caught violating a traffic rule, its details are recorded digitally, and an electronic challan is generated. The system will also send an alert to the offender’s registered phone number and email ID. The introduction of e-challans in Telangana reduces corruption and human error, making the entire process more convenient and transparent.

Why Should You Check TS E-Challan Status?

If you have received a digital alert from the Telangana traffic challan system, then it is important to check the status of your traffic challan periodically. Here is why:

  • Penalties and Escalation: Unpaid penalties accumulate over time, resulting in higher charges. Late payment of traffic penalties can lead to vehicle impoundment.
  • Legal Complications: In case of several unpaid traffic tickets, you may encounter legal consequences such as suspension of registration or licence.
  • Clean Record: Routine checking of TS e-challan helps to maintain a clean driving record, ensuring no e-challan goes unnoticed.
  • Convenience: Regular tracking of the e-challan system gives you optimum convenience, saving you from the hassle of visiting police stations.

If you have a practice of ignoring traffic challans, it is time to take heed. As per the data, the Union Road Transport Ministry stated that violators with more than 5 traffic challans for over 90 days will not be able to conduct any transaction on the Vahan portal.

How to Check TS E-Challan Status?

Telangana Traffic Police offers a user-friendly and uniform traffic challan checking process, be it a e challan Hyderabad or any other place. Violators can keep an eye on their e-challan either through the official website of Telangana State Police or other third-party apps and websites. Following is a step-by-step guide to the process:

  1. Via the mobile apps

You can check the status of your e-challan through mobile apps in 4 simple steps. Have a look:

  • Step 1: Install the app from the Google Play Store or App Store.
  • Step 2: Sign in using your registered mobile no and email ID.
  • Step 3: Navigate the ‘Discover’ section and click on ‘Pay Traffic challans’.
  • Step 4: Enter your vehicle’s registration details and click ‘Search’ to get an overview of all your paid and pending traffic challans.
  1. Via the websites

You can also monitor the TS e-challan from the websites of these apps. Here’s how:

  • Step 1: Go to the website and navigate to e-challan. You can find the e-challan widget on the right-hand side of your desktop.
  • Step 2: Then, enter the registration details of your vehicle.
  • Step 3: Next, click ‘check your pending challan’ to see the details.

What is the Penalty System in Telangana?

In 2017, Telangana State Police launched a penalty point system to ingrain self-discipline in commuters. As per the system, each traffic offence carries a point between 1 to 5. If an offender reaches 12 points, then his/her licence will be suspended for over 2 years. On further repetition of 12 points accumulation, the suspended period will be extended to 3 years.

Tips to Avoid TS E-Challan and Penalty

Following are some tips to steer clear of TS e-challan and penalty. Take a look:

  • Be informed of all the traffic rules and regulations and follow traffic norms, signs, and signals while driving.
  • Do not use a mobile phone while driving. Avoid distractions like eating to keep your eyes on the road.
  • Always keep your essential documents, such as PUC, car insurance certificate, and licence.
  • Drive within the prescribed speed limits. Overspeeding can lead to collisions and penalties.

Final Words

We hope this detailed overview of the TS e-challan system has catered to all your queries. The bottom line of all the discussion is complete adherence to traffic regulations to avoid TS e-challan. In case you receive a traffic ticket, follow the above-mentioned process to stay safe from higher fines and legal troubles.
