Unveiling Next Steps in Sustainable Community Development
NEW DELHI (India CSR): Canon India sets another milestone in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by announcing its latest village adoption—Nandrampur Bass in Haryana. This initiative aligns with Canon’s transformative ‘Henkaku’ strategy and marks a new chapter in their long-standing ‘Adopt a Village‘ program, aiming to bring about significant positive change in the community through its focus on the 4Es: Education, Eye Care, Environment, and Empowerment.
A Legacy of Positive Change
The adoption of Nandrampur Bass comes on the heels of a successful five-year engagement with Maheshwari Village. Canon India has made strides in community development, notably converting the local school into a model for the district, thus benefiting over 1,400 students.
Since its inception in 2012, the ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative has not only focused on educational upliftment but also on infrastructural improvements, currently supporting a total of four villages across India. The ultimate goal is to contribute to a sustainable and socially responsible future for the country.
Leadership Speaks
Canon India’s President and CEO, Manabu Yamazaki, alongside C Sukumaran, Senior Director of Product and Communication, inaugurated the initiative by visiting Nandrampur Bass. They marked the occasion with the launch of a resource and vocational center, a new water station, and by painting educational murals in the local school.
“On this occasion, we reflect on our past successes and look forward to driving more impactful changes through our CSR initiatives,” said Yamazaki.
Immediate Steps and Future Roadmap
Canon India has outlined immediate interventions for Nandrampur Bass across its four core focus areas:
- Education: Infrastructure and sanitation improvements in schools, along with the establishment of a ‘Resource Center’ for computer education.
- Eye Care: A ‘Vision Center’ will offer free eye check-ups, along with health camps and awareness sessions.
- Environment: Initiatives include tree planting and village cleanliness drives, as well as sustainable practices like waste management and solar panel installation.
- Empowerment: Digital education for youth and skill development courses for community members will be introduced to enable self-sustainability.
