I. Introduction
Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal has praised India’s economic growth and transformation from being perceived as a slow-moving “elephant” to a swift and agile “cheetah” in the eyes of global leaders. India will assume the presidency of the G20, a group of 19 countries and the European Union, in December 2022. The country is currently the fastest-growing large economy, with China experiencing slowed growth due to various factors including the COVID-19 pandemic and developed countries such as the US facing low growth and recessions. Agarwal believes that India’s G20 presidency comes at a perfect time and is confident in the country’s abilities to lead and solve global problems.
II. India’s Economic Growth
India is currently the 5th largest economy in the world and has a thriving startup ecosystem, with over 84 thousand start-ups operating across 656 districts.
Youth in India are “really showing the world how it’s done” and are transitioning from job seekers to job creators.
Women are also joining the workforce in increasing numbers.
III. Praise for Prime Minister Modi
Agarwal credits Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating an atmosphere that encourages youth entrepreneurship and the participation of women in the workforce.

Agarwal is confident in India’s ability to succeed in its role as G20 president and believes the country has moved from the phrase “apna time ayega” (our time will come) to “apna time aa gaya hai” (our time has come). He is optimistic about the future and believes that India will continue to thrive and achieve success.
