Second Edition of The Angel Summit concluded in Delhi with major Inspirations and Aspirations

NEW DELHI: Dr. Kiran Bedi (first woman IPS officer) who spoke at the Angel Summit proudly stated that, “Gender Neutrality is much needed in our country where talent is recognized above all and also emphasized on the fact that Corporate Houses should frame the policies, timings etc in a way that Female staff attrition becomes less.
She said, “I am proud of Sita and her initiative towards Female Leaders and aspiring youth to become successful. This is the right platform to witness that Failures should never deter the zeal of entrepreneurship in you .When you fall (you will surely fall), then fall forward and not backward. As long as you are learning while falling you will succeed.
Ms. Bedi concluded the discussion by stating, “Women go home. Men need to be sent home.”
The Angel Summit brought together the brightest women in tech, business, arts, sports, and politics and connected them with aspiring individuals. The aim behind organizing The Angel Summit around Mother’s Day was to intimate the youth with the successful and inspiring female individuals so that they get motivated from the people of the present generation and have new mentors to look up to.
Sita Pallacholla, Founder and CEO – The Angel Hub explains, “The Angel summit platform is best described by the phrase Inspiration Meets Impact. I always get asked why this platform is only for women: Women entrepreneurs across the globe have similar barriers and hurdles to overcome, these range from financial to societal barriers. The reason for creating The Angel Summit is to address these issues and bring to light solution centric conversations and turn ideas that matter into action.
She further adds that “It’s important for us to showcase success stories of women. The upcoming generation needs role models. People talk about how there are only few women in various fields. To change that number, we need our generation to be inspired.”
Talking about the expansion plans, she says “The Angel Summit will be taken to different cities across the world. The road map of summits this year includes, Madrid, Singapore, Bombay and London. We tie up with local organizations and complement each other’s work.”
The day was replete with a power packed agenda of remarkable women leaders on panels. The leadership panel was addressed by Dr. Kiran Bedi (first woman IPS officer), Shereen Bhan (Managing Editor, CNBC TV-18), Debjani Gosh (Managing Director, Intel Corporation) addressed the topic of women in leadership roles influencing People, Planet and Profit.
The Female Founders panel included five game changing successful women: Suchi Mukherjee (Founder, Lime Road), Lubeina Shapurwala (Cofounder, Mustang Socks), Swati Bhargava (Founder, CashKaro)
Priya Maheshwari (Cofounder, Properji). These successful female founders not just shared their successful mantras but also inspired young generation to follow their dreams and work for it.
Summit day was intertwined with out-of -the -box success stories by Kalpana Saroj and brave survivors like Dilshad Master and Ira Singhal who had been a source of inspiration not only in India but globally too.
Time has gone when ladies were only sitting at home and parenting their kids. Upasana Taku (Founder, MobiKwik), Priya Sachdev (Co-founder, Rockon), Ruchi Agarwal, (Director of Marketing, Microsoft) talked about breaking barriers as parents in high- strung work environments and how to aspire kids as well while working towards your own aims.
Ten brilliant female led startups from all across India were chosen from hundreds of applicants to pitch on the Angel Summit stage. The judging panel comprised eminent Venture Capital firms and Angel Investors. Saha Fund, Unitus Seed Fund and Cross Border Angels with mentors from Facebook and NASSCOM. Tinder’s COO for India -Taru Kapoor was also on the panel to share her experiences as a Female Entrepreneur
Mentored sessions for aspiring women with the distinguished speakers guaranteed the funding of the best ideas. The agenda was planned to produce tangible results in terms of promoting women in leadership roles and creating great visibility for female-led businesses in India.
FICCI FLO played an important role in outreach and organizing the event and was the associate partner of The Angel Summit.
Sita Pallacholla, Founder and CEO, The Angel Hub had organized the second edition of The Angel Summit at the FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi which has successfully been concluded in presence of around 600 delegates and many successfully entrepreneurs.

The Angel Summit is a part of Angel Hub, an initiative that focuses on Education, Mentorship and Acceleration for Women.
