In Japan, Johkasou is the concept and technology promoted by the Government of Japan under its policy to treat the wastewater using these products

GURUGRAM: World leader for smaller STPs Daiki Axis signed an MoU with Sri Vishwakarma Skill University aimed at imparting skill development courses in water conservation and wastewater recycling for the newly inducted students under the innovative program.

Johkasou Onsite Sewage Treatment Plant

The initiative was set in motion during the momentous inauguration of the Johkasou Onsite Sewage Treatment Plant. The generous courses aim at empowering youths and potential workers to gain expertise in onsite wastewater treatment systems. Daiki in its initiative has already offered a job to an inspiring number of twenty students and aims to contribute to future skilled manpower in this rising and crucial sector.

India facing a water crisis

India, as a nation is facing a water crisis as the gap between demand and supply is increasing day by day also, the traditional models of treating wastewater are corroded. Keeping immense potential and opportunities to treat the wastewater, India is in need of vision and a skilled workforce for the rising sector. According to UN reports, India is likely to face a severe water crisis due to a substantial gap between demand and availability.

Sewage Treatment Plants

A collaboration from NITI Aayog has cited that the situation will be further exacerbated due to depleting groundwater resources and increased stress on food and energy requirements by 2030. Furthermore, the lack of a skilled workforce and good O&M have been identified as the biggest reasons for the failure of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) across the country.

Bringing water-positive India

Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, said “The revolution of new clean and green businesses is set to bring water-positive India and will immensely contribute towards a sustainable environment. The movement will generate next-generation business opportunities for lakhs of youths. This skilled manpower will have the potential to be hired by foreign companies as demand is clearly rising for a sustainable environment across the globe”.

Phase-wise Training

He further added, “We will start the training of beneficiaries phase-wise and will significantly involve practical sessions so that their training could match with the actual job on the field. We hope to contribute to the government of India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focusing on the Swacch Bharat Mission, Smart City, and Jal Jeevan Mission. We are highly dedicated towards our mission of focusing on the quality of skill education, aspired by students and admired by industry, nationally and internationally.”

The rapidly changing climate has posed a different challenge and the need is to bring appropriate measures that will help save and reuse the wastewater through updated technology and a skilled workforce.

Johkasou: A Great Concept from Japan

The MoU was signed in the presence of Rio Waza, Managing Director, Daiki Axis India who further said, “In Japan, Johkasou is the concept and technology promoted by the Government of Japan under its policy to treat the wastewater using these products. Inspired by the several million life affected positively we aim to build a replica model and run it successfully in India. Having the potential to learn and implement the skills, we have high hopes that the youth of the nation will soon find their career opportunities in this field.”

Meeting the demand for skilled human resources

Terming this MoU as a milestone in the direction of employment generation, Kamal Tiwari, CEO & Director, Daiki Axis India said, “Our organisation, in association with Sri Vishwakarma Skilled University, will endeavour to meet the demand for skilled human resources in the field of wastewater treatment by introducing related professional courses.”

Job opportunities for lakhs of youth

“The idea of water and life within it will be further strengthened by wastewater treatment and our efforts to mobilise the workforce. This new clean and green business would not only provide water-positive India and revive the economy but would also generate a new generation of business and job opportunities for lakhs of youth. The skilled manpower could also potentially be hired by other countries as well.”, he added.
