YS Raja Reddy Priya Atluri: YS Sharmila, the founder and president of the YSR Telangana Party and the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has welcomed a new member into her family – Priya Atluri.

YS Sharmila’s son, YS Raja Reddy, married Priya Atluri, a US-based woman from the Kamma community, one of the dominant castes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, on 17 February 2024.

Finally, YS Sharmila’s son, Raja Reddy, was married on February 17th, 2024. It was widely known that Raja Reddy had tied the knot with Priya Atluri.

The wedding festivities were held at Rajasthan’s Jodhpur Umaid Bhawan Palace, where family and friends gathered for the celebration.

For the event, the couple donned traditional white attire, while the rest of the family members, including Sharmila and Vijayamma, were dressed in yellow.

The engagement ceremony had previously taken place in January 2024.

Sharmila, the daughter of the late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, wrote, “Best wishes to everyone for 2024! I am happy to share the news of my son Y.S. Raja Reddy’s engagement with Atluri Priya on January 18th, their wedding is set for February 17th, 2024.”

It was there that he was introduced to Priya Atluri, and what started as a friendship soon blossomed into a deep and enduring love.

The families of Priya Atluri, including YS Sharmila and Anil Kumar, gave their consent and support to Priya’s relationship.

Who is YS Raja Reddy?

  • Raja Reddy is the elder son of YS Sharmila and her husband Anil Kumar, an evangelist and a former actor.
  • He was born in 1996 and has a younger sister, Anjali Reddy.
  • He completed his schooling from Oakridge International School in Hyderabad and pursued his higher education in the US.
  • He is currently working as a software engineer in a reputed company in the US.
  • He is also interested in politics and social service, and has accompanied his mother in her political campaigns and rallies in Telangana.

Yeduguri Sandinti Sharmila Reddy, also known as Y. S. Sharmila, is an Indian politician who is the founder and president of the YSR Telangana Party. She is the younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the daughter of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Y. S. Vijayamma. She worked as the party convener for the YSR Congress Party.


Who is Priya Atluri?

  • Priya Atluri is the daughter of Atluri Balaprasad, a businessman and the founder of Atluri Holdings, a corporate entity that provides support for various businesses in the fields of audiovisual and security solutions.
  • She was born in 1997 and has a younger brother, Abhinav Atluri.
  • She completed her schooling from Chirec International School in Hyderabad and pursued her higher education in the US.
  • She is currently working as a financial analyst in a reputed company in the US.
  • She is also passionate about music and dance, and has participated in several cultural events and competitions.

Socio-Economic and Political Backgrounds

  • Both Raja Reddy and Priya Atluri belong to affluent and influential families, with strong political and business connections.
  • Raja Reddy is the grandson of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who died in a helicopter crash in 2009. He is also the nephew of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who is the founder and leader of the YSR Congress Party, the ruling party in the state.
  • Priya Atluri is the granddaughter of Atluri Rama Rao, a former MLA and minister in Andhra Pradesh, who was associated with the Telugu Desam Party, the main opposition party in the state. She is also the niece of Atluri Srinivas, a former MP and a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party.
  • Both Raja Reddy and Priya Atluri have grown up in Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana, which was bifurcated from Andhra Pradesh in 2014. They have witnessed the political and social turmoil that followed the state division, and have also experienced the cultural and linguistic diversity of the two states.

Significance of the Inter-Caste Marriage
