MUMBAI: To commemorate International women’s day, Wockhardt Foundation in association with Divyaj Foundation and Lions Club International instituted Women of Wonder Awards 2018 to honour the women achievers in India from different walks of life. The awards were held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Turf Club, Mumbai.
The Women of Wonder Awards 2018 celebrated and recognized accomplishments of emerging women leaders who represent the next generation of leaders across a wide range of disciplines. The awards recognised women leaders from categories across business, sports, government, social responsibility, arts, media etc. In all, there were 23 categories in which awards were presented.
Some of the awardees this year in various categories included Punam Raut- Indian women cricketer, Anny Divya – youngest pilot, Malishka Mendonsa – best radio jockey, Meghna Malik – best television actor, Palak Muchchal- best singer, Ms Anaita Shroff – fashion & style leader and many more women achievers.
On this occasion, the awards were conferred by Guest of Honor-Amruta Fadnavis along with Chief Guest, Anandiben Patel, Honorable Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
Fatema Bootwala, Founder Women of Wonder (WOW) stated, “WOW (Women of Wonder) Achievers Awards are presented to women achievers who have excelled in their fields. The award emphasises the important role played by women in society while appreciating their attitudes, initiatives, will power and perseverance.”
At the event, Sir Dr. Huz (Huzaifa Khorakiwala), CEO and Trustee, Wockhardt Foundation, expressed himself saying, “Women’s role in Indian society is undergoing appreciable changes. They have occupied top ranks and attained immense success in various fields and are marching towards success in every walk of life. Through ‘Women of Wonder’ we take this opportunity to recognize their zeal, dynamism and encourage their extensive contribution towards themselves and society.”
