We intend to build a Giving Economy, Says Chet Jainn, founder of Crowdera

Crowdera is the only free fundraising, crowdfunding platform for individuals and organisations. It is contributing to building a Giving Economy, empowering individuals and organisations to drive crowdfunding projects that make an impact, do social innovation, follow their passion, or even fulfill personal needs. 

Crowdera has helped over 50 SMEs and Startups to raise funds on their platform. It has partnered with a major SME support ecosystem that helps in optimizing the processes and amplifying the efficiency of the companies. It has helped them in terms of grants and funding upwards of 5 Crores via its services, via its global partners including Hubspot for startups, AWS Activate, Stripe, and many more.  

Chet Jainn, founder & CEO Crowdera shared with Rusen Kumar, editor, India CSR how he is supporting the social development sector. Excerpts of an interview: 

How is Crowdera supporting Corporate Giving or CSR initiatives of Indian companies?

Crowdfunding has made investment more accessible and efficient. Many companies and businesses now consider donating for causes through crowdfunding and include the same as their CSR strategy. Crowdera enables these businesses to connect with suitable campaigns. It spreads out the campaigns to the potential donors. 

Crowdera began as a philanthropic project, with a belief that (online) fundraising or crowdfunding should be a basic human right for people who live in communities. Crowdera is ecstatic to have developed a fully-free fundraising and crowdfunding platform for any causes you care about. Our goal is to deliver the greatest crowdfunding experience for Causes, Emergencies, and Dreams, all for free.

Why does Crowdera still offer free crowdfunding and free charity websites? Is it free?

Our foundational belief is that when a person comes to seek support on Crowdera, they must not be charged any type of fees. No-one should be charged for raising funds for any cause. Charging for charity is contrary to its very essence. As a protagonist in the industry, we intend to build a Giving Economy. We aim to empower individuals and organizations to drive crowdfunding projects that make an impact, bring about social innovation, follow their passion, or even need to fulfil personal needs.

What are some of the successful fundraising campaigns on Crowdera? And in your view, what kind of campaigns get more attention from the crowd? 

We have raised funds usefully for many causes, some of them are, JOIN MY MISSION TO PUT WASTE IN THE RIGHT PLACE (Raising money to start a plastic recycling mission. Join the Revolution and Stop Plastic Pollution), LEND A HAND IN COVID19 (A campaign by REPOS ENERGY which is undertaken with a single goal to feed as many needy people as possible.), and SILAIGRAM: STITCHING EMPOWERMENT (We are raising funds for Buying new and Quality Sewing Machines for our Ladies who are working at our Workstation.)

The attention depends on the objective of the campaign and the story and human connection that it can create. If the story is appealing and genuine and the donor feels a connection, they would want to donate. The donors must feel reassured that the amount that they are donating, will be utilised for good causes; causes that find resonance in their hearts.

How has Crowdera helped people during difficult pandemic times?

Crowdera, during the COVID times, has helped families find support from outdoor sources and organizations which are working in relevant need categories.

During the pandemic, social efforts were on a massive scale; but it was important for right efforts to match with right needs so that right people and communities got the right aid – whether –financial assistance, survival assistance, assistance for medical expenditures, treatments and equipment. Apart from these the crowdfunding platforms have also helped those seeking upskilling, higher education, daily wagers, and also underprivileged population. 

COVID-19 has affected much business, and due to lockdown, businesses have been hampered a lot. How is it affecting the crowdfunding industry?
