A firm believer in the interrelated issues of poverty and environmental degradation focuses on “water and water related issues” to strengthening the ecology, society and economy continuum.
Practitioner from the very beginning, began his professional life in 1989 in construction sector. Have rendered services in construction supervision, QA & QC in the core infrastructural development sector where he worked as proof consultant in World’s highest railway bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, lead team of Engineers for quality inspection of construction of Alumina Smelter plant of Vedanta at Jharsuguda (Orissa), Buildings, Roads, Bridges, Fuel pipeline, Mounted Bullets, Green Building project, PEB and similar many infrastructure projects. Joined Reliance Foundation to work on sustainable water development and management.
Sunil works on a one point agenda of total water security and drives RF’s work on water across 12 states through 27 cluster locations in addition to CSR sites. Sunil’s core interest is to make water harvesting & management scalable through innovating, co-designing affordable solutions to become it public movement.
Signs to this effects are visible in Agar MP, Jasdan Gujarat & others where community are coming together, planning & contributing money from their profits to enhance capacity of dams, reconstruction of old broken dams, construction of Ferrocement check dams & water storage tanks up to 70000 liters capacity by themselves.
He has innovated so many low cost design to construct Dams, water storage tanks by introducing Ferrocement Technology. In Ferrocement Technology no need for centring and shuttering material, row material consumption is very low and can be applied by anyone to construct for themselves. The overall cost of water harvesting is very low in comparison of existing trend in sector hence people are taking it even by their own resources.
