Shallu Jindal co-chairs JSPL Foundation with her husband Naveen Jindal and spearheading the CSR initiatives of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL), a larger steel company. She focuses on facilitating holistic community developments through various CSR interventions in the operative geographies of JSPL and its subsidiaries. Women empowerment and working for the deprived sections of the society are issues close to her heart.
She is Vice-President of the Flag Foundation of India and has initiated various creative ventures. She has compiled books like ‘Tiranga- My Life’, ‘My Words and Freedom’. She is also an applauded author and has authored her first book for children titled ‘India: An Alphabet Ride’.
She is the ex-Chairperson of the National Bal Bhavan and Founder President of Young FICCI Ladies Organisation. She has opened Jindal Art Institute, with the aim of spreading far and wide the rich artistic heritage of India and world with the masses. She is also Director on the Board of Miracle Foundation India and Jindal Steel & Power (Mauritius) Limited.
Shallu Jindal is a Non–Executive Director of the JSPL. She is a renowned Kuchipudi dancer and has performed with much acclaim and alacrity, both nationally and internationally at various venues across India and abroad.
Under the leadership of Ms. Jindal, JSPL Foundation has initiated several programmes in Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to fight infant mortality, build nutrition and good health among Young women, train tribal youth in a range of professional skills, apart from providing clean drinking water, different farming opportunities to people in rural areas.
The Foundation has impacted the lives of more than 1.9 million families through its projects in the areas of inclusive health, education, livelihood, infrastructure development, skill building, women empowerment and others. Ms Jindal is well known for her dedication to preserve , reinforce and disseminate the Indian classical dances and Performing Arts across the world and is also the Founder of Jindal Art Institute at New Delhi .
A disciple of Padma Bhushan Guru Raja Radha and Kaushalya Reddy, Ms. Jindal is a highly accomplished Kuchipudi danseuse. She has been honoured with several awards for her outstanding achievements in the field of Indian classical dance Kuchipudi and contribution in the field of art and culture.
She is also the Vice President of Flag Foundation of India inducting the glories and pride of the National Flag, the Tiranga in People of India.
Ms. Jindal has authored a book for children titled as ‘India: An Alphabet Ride’ and has compiled two books ‘the Tiranga’ and ‘Freedom’.
She is also the former Chairperson of National Bal Bhavan and the Founder President of Young FICCI Ladies Organisation and (YFLO). Recently Ms. Jindal has been honoured with CSR Best Practice Award by CMO Asia at Singapore & Mahatma Award for CSR Leadership.
She has also been awarded with the International Women’s Day award under the category of ‘Dance’ (IWD award) by ICUNR (Indian Council for UN Relations). She has been honoured with ‘Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award’, ‘Devdasi National Award’ & ‘Art Karat Award for Excellence’ for Best Classical Danseuse and remarkable contribution in field of Indian Classical Dance. She was honoured with the 2nd Aaadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Award, 2010 and the ‘Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award 2007’ for her outstanding achievements in the field of Indian classical dance (Kuchipudi) and contribution in the field of art and culture, education and community development.
She was awarded the 2012 Rex Karmaveer Puraskaar – ‘artist for change’ for her outstanding services and achievements in the field of Indian Classical Dance (Kuchipudi). The award also marks her contributions towards social activities through the field of art and culture, education and community development.
