RAIGARH (India CSR): In a significant achievement under corporate social responsibility (CSR), seven students from the archery training centre operated by the Adani Foundation in Tamnar block of Raigarh district have been selected by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
These selected students will now receive free hostel accommodation, meals, and professional-level archery training under national coaches. Additionally, they will gain exposure by participating in inter-state and national-level competitions, helping further develop their sporting abilities.
Empowering Rural Talent Through Education & Sports
The training centre was established in the Atmanand School, located in village Kunjemura, during the academic year 2024–25. It is part of a broader initiative to nurture rural talent through sports. A total of 15 students under the age of 17 are currently being trained in archery by coach Enos Singh.
Raipur Centre Selections
Four students from the centre have been selected for the Sports Authority of India’s Raipur training centre:
- Sahil Rajak, son of Mr. Jageshwar Rajak
- Priyansh Nishad, son of Mr. Sadhram (resident of Kunjemura)
- Aryan Das Mahant, son of Mr. Pancham Das Mahant (resident of Roomkera)
- Sudhir Sidar, son of Mr. Chainsingh Sidar (resident of Gare village)
These students are currently studying in Class 10 and 11 at Atmanand Hindi Medium School, Kunjemura.
Bilaspur Centre Selections
During the state-level archery trials held on April 29–30, 2025, three more students from the same initiative were selected for the State Sports Training Centre in Bilaspur. They are:
- Chitrasen Nishad, son of Mr. Tikeshwar Nishad (resident of Kunjemura)
- Rinku Purshet, son of Mr. Kamal Purshet (resident of Paata)
- Aditya Chauhan, son of Mr. Harishankar Chauhan (resident of Bajarmuda)
A Growing Legacy
Notably, this is not the first time students from this centre have excelled. Last year, two students were selected for SAI Raipur, one of whom, Vinisha Minz, represented the state at the national level, earning accolades.
Through its grassroots-level sports training initiative, the Adani Foundation continues to inspire and empower rural youth, providing them with a pathway to national recognition and personal growth.
