Energy Conservation Month celebrated with fervour

KORBA (Chhattisgarh): Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (Balco) observed December -2016 as a month for Energy Conservation. Many awareness programmes were organised in Schools of Balconagar, in the Township as well as in the Plant.
The winners of the painting, slogan writing, poetry writing, quiz and other competitions were awarded with prizes. The closing ceremony of the Energy Conservation Month was held in the Alumina Canteen.
Deepak Prasad, Head-Aluminium Business and Chief Guest at the function said that conserving energy was everybody’s responsibility. He appealed to officers, employees and contract workers that they should make optimum use of resources in the workplace. The wasteful flow and spillage of oils should be curtailed. He added that global warming was on the increase and it was absolutely necessary to have control over the ever increasing temperature for the benefit of future generations.
Guest of Honours, D.K.Patel, AVP-Power, P.S.Toor, Head-Engineering Services and Ashok Yadav, Head-Operations, 1200 MW Power Plant said in their speeches that we should encourage non- conventional sources for energy generation. The officers added that a lot of projects have been implemented for energy conservation. The occasion also saw the presence of Amandeep Sood, Head- Cast House, Balco and R Vijay, Head- G.A.P along with many Balco officers.
The first prize for Quiz Competition went to 540 MW Team. Two teams of 1200 MW came second and third respectively. In the Contract Workers Category the first prize went to E & I Team of 1200 MW Power Plant, G.I.S. Team won the second and the third prize went to Rectifier Pot Room Line-1. Along with these, awards were also given for project presentations based on energy conservation.
Pot Line Utilities got the first prize, Team 1200 MW Operations won the second prize and the Rodding Team won the third prize. The Team of S.R.S. stayed at the 4th position. In the Energy Saving Cardinal Rules Competition, Cast House -3 Team came first. Pot Line – 2 came second and the third position was jointly bagged by S.R.S. Team as well as 1200 MW Teams.
The guests at the function released a booklet on energy conservation. Roshan Soni, Associate Manager, Rectifier, informed the gathering about the contents of the booklet. An exhibition was organised at the place of the function. On display in the exhibition were pictures, poems and slogans.
