Salaar: Part 1 – CeaseFire, the highly anticipated action thriller starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan, has set the box office on fire on its opening day. The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, has reportedly earned a staggering Rs.250 crore worldwide, making it the highest opener of 2023. The film has also broken the records of Prabhas’ previous films, Adipurush and Radhe Shyam, which had earned Rs.89 crore and Rs.53 crore respectively on their first day.

Salaar dominates the domestic market despite clash with Dunki

Salaar, which released on December 22, 2023, faced a tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, which also hit the screens on the same day. However, Salaar managed to overpower Dunki in most of the regions, especially in the southern states, where Prabhas enjoys a huge fan following. According to trade analysts, Salaar has collected around Rs.70 crore in India, with Rs.40 crore coming from the Telugu states alone. The film also performed well in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, where it earned Rs.10 crore, Rs.8 crore, and Rs.3.36 crore respectively. In the Hindi belt, Salaar faced a stiff challenge from Dunki, but still managed to rake in Rs.8.64 crore, which is commendable considering the clash.

Salaar creates history in the overseas market with over $25 million

Salaar has also received an overwhelming response from the international audience, especially in the US, where it has created history by becoming the first Indian film to cross $25 million on its opening day. The film, which had a massive premiere in over 3000 screens across the US, has collected $25.5 million (Rs.180 crore), beating the previous record of Leo, which had earned $21.5 million on its first day. Salaar has also performed well in other overseas markets, such as the UAE, Australia, UK, and Canada, where it has collected $3.5 million, $1.2 million, $0.8 million, and $0.5 million respectively.

Salaar receives positive reviews from critics and audience

Salaar has not only impressed the audience with its box office numbers, but also with its content and presentation. The film, which is the first part of a two-part series, narrates the emotional story of two friends and their journey into the world of Khansaar, a ruthless mafia empire. Prabhas plays the role of Salaar, a fearless and loyal friend, who takes on the Khansaar clan, led by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the role of Khan. Shruti Haasan plays the role of Ayesha, Salaar’s love interest, who supports him in his mission. The film has received positive reviews from critics and audience alike, who have praised the performances, direction, action, cinematography, and music of the film. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes, and promises a gripping and impactful cinematic experience for its viewers.

Salaar aims to cross the Rs.1000 crore mark in its lifetime run

Salaar, which is produced by Hombale Films, has been made on a budget of Rs.350 crore, and has already recovered its cost on its first day. The film is expected to witness a huge growth over the weekend, and cross the Rs.500 crore mark in its first week. The film also has a strong chance of crossing the Rs.1000 crore mark in its lifetime run, and becoming one of the highest grossing Indian films of all time. Salaar is also expected to break the records of Prashanth Neel’s previous directorial, KGF Chapter 2, which had earned over Rs.1000 crore at the worldwide box office. Salaar is slated to release its second part, Salaar: Part 2 – War, in 2024, which will conclude the epic saga of Salaar and Khan.
