MUMBAI (India CSR): Ronald McDonald House India marked Rakshabandhan at its Mahim House by bringing together children undergoing medical treatment and their families for a day centred on care, emotional support and togetherness. For many families staying at the House, a child’s treatment means travelling hundreds of kilometres from their hometowns, managing financial pressure and spending extended periods away from home. Ronald McDonald House India provides a family-centred support system close to hospitals, enabling parents and caregivers to remain beside their children during a difficult phase.

The Mahim House offers free accommodation, nutritious meals, hospital transportation support, recreational and engagement activities for children, emotional and psychosocial support, and essential daily-use facilities. By reducing the practical burdens associated with long-term treatment, the organisation helps families concentrate on their child’s recovery and wellbeing.
The Rakshabandhan programme created an opportunity for children and families to step away briefly from the demands of hospital visits and treatment schedules. Festive activities and shared cultural moments helped reinforce the emotional bonds that often become a vital source of resilience during a child’s healthcare journey.
Smt. Ritu Tawde, Hon’ble Mayor of Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, visited Ronald McDonald House India during the programme and spent time with children and families residing at the House. Her visit added encouragement and recognition for families navigating complex medical challenges away from their home communities.

Rakshabandhan is traditionally associated with the bond of protection, affection and responsibility among siblings. At Ronald McDonald House India, the occasion reflected a wider meaning of family support—where caregivers, volunteers, healthcare systems and communities come together to ensure that no family has to face a child’s illness alone.
Through such engagement, the organisation continues to focus on holistic support for children and families, recognising that healing is supported not only by medical care but also by safety, dignity, emotional connection and hope.
