As the Government drives AYUSH from policy to every household, an AI-powered platform is carrying India’s ancient systems of healing into the digital age — one phone, one family at a time

NEW DELHI / NOIDA – India’s traditional systems of healing — Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy — are among the oldest continuous medical traditions in the world. For thousands of years, these sciences have offered a holistic, preventive, root-cause approach to health that the modern world is only now rediscovering. Today, that ancient wisdom is enjoying a powerful revival, propelled by an unprecedented national push. And a new-generation venture, Online Vaidyaji, is stepping forward to carry that mission the final, crucial distance — into every Indian home, through the phone in every hand.

The AYUSH-first platform, which recently launched across Delhi-NCR and onboarded more than 100 practising doctors and vaidyas, describes its purpose in terms that echo the national agenda: to make authentic, trusted traditional healthcare accessible to everyone, everywhere. In doing so, it positions itself not against the modern healthcare system, but as a digital partner to one of India’s most ambitious public-health movements.

A national mission gathering pace

The Government of India has made the promotion of AYUSH a genuine priority, backing ancient wisdom with modern institutions, funding, and reach. The dedicated Ministry of AYUSH, elevated to full ministry status in 2014, has driven a decade of expansion — and the numbers tell the story. India’s AYUSH market has grown from around USD 2.85 billion in 2014 to roughly USD 26.5 billion in 2026, an almost tenfold rise in twelve years, reflecting both rising public demand and sustained governmental support.

That support runs deep. The flagship National AYUSH Mission (NAM) is designed to deliver cost-effective, universally accessible AYUSH services by upgrading hospitals and dispensaries, co-locating AYUSH facilities within community and primary health centres, and strengthening education and quality infrastructure. Thousands of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres have already been made operational across the country — a deliberate effort to take traditional healing out of specialist institutions and into neighbourhoods and villages, closer to where people actually live.

The commitment has only intensified. The Union Budget 2026 allocated around ₹4,408 crore to the Ministry of AYUSH, funding the modernisation of AYUSH education, the expansion of wellness centres, and stronger research, standardisation, and quality assurance — alongside the establishment of new All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) colleges. Globally, too, India’s leadership is being recognised, from the WHO’s Global Traditional Medicine Strategy for 2025–2034 to the Delhi Declaration co-hosted by the WHO and India’s Ministry of AYUSH, which set international benchmarks for Ayurveda’s role in universal health coverage.

The government’s ambition is clear: to make AYUSH not a fringe alternative, but a household name — a first, trusted choice for wellness in every Indian family, delivered as close to their doorstep as possible.

The last mile: from centres to homes

For all this progress, one challenge remains stubborn — the last mile. Physical wellness centres, however numerous, cannot reach every household, every busy professional, or every family in a remote town on the day they need guidance. A person may believe deeply in Ayurveda yet still lack easy access to a qualified vaidya they can trust. This is the gap between a national mission and a lived, everyday reality.

It is precisely this gap that Online Vaidyaji sets out to close — not by duplicating what the government is building, but by extending it into the digital space. If the state is taking AYUSH door-to-door through wellness centres, Online Vaidyaji aims to take it phone-to-phone, into the pocket of every citizen.

Carrying the mission into the digital age

At its launch, Founder & Director Animesh Kumar unveiled the first look at the company’s upcoming AI-powered application — a platform built to connect patients with verified AYUSH practitioners from anywhere, at any time. The platform’s ambition mirrors the national one: authentic traditional care, made accessible, affordable, and trustworthy at scale.

The foundation is trust. By onboarding over 100 credentialed AYUSH doctors and vaidyas at launch, the platform ensures that the guidance a family receives comes from qualified professionals — directly addressing the biggest barrier that has long held ordinary people back from traditional medicine: not knowing whom to trust. Layered on top is technology designed to make care continuous and preventive, in keeping with the very spirit of AYUSH, which treats the whole person and the whole way of living rather than a single symptom.

“The government has done remarkable work in reviving and elevating AYUSH — taking it closer to communities than ever before,” said Animesh Kumar, Founder & Director. “Our role is to complement that national effort. Where a wellness centre reaches a village, we want a trusted vaidya to reach a phone. Together, that is how ancient healing becomes a part of every Indian’s daily life.”

A shared vision on display

The launch reflected this sense of a larger movement. Co-founder Ankur Kumar hosted the event and set out the company’s vision and expansion plan for carrying AYUSH access across the country. Guests reinforced the theme: Gautam Khattar spoke to the importance of AYUSH in India’s health future; Udit Chawla, Co-founder of WellWith, reflected on the healthcare gaps that a platform like this can help bridge; Tarun Raj Arora shared how mentorship could support the venture’s growth; and Abhinav Arora offered reflections rooted in the Bhagavad Gita, connecting the platform’s work to India’s deeper cultural and spiritual heritage.

The presence of doctors, entrepreneurs, investors, and cultural voices in one room underlined a simple point: the revival of AYUSH is a collective national project, and platforms like Online Vaidyaji see themselves as active participants in it rather than mere businesses.

Ancient wisdom, modern reach

India stands at a rare moment. Its oldest healing traditions and its newest technologies are converging, backed by strong political will and rising public trust. The government is building the institutions, the funding, and the last-mile centres. Ventures like Online Vaidyaji are building the digital bridge that can carry all of it into the everyday lives of a billion people.

As the platform moves toward the full release of its app and continues to grow its network of trusted practitioners, its guiding purpose remains firmly aligned with the national one: to ensure that the ancient science of healing, so long confined by distance and doubt, finally reaches every doorstep — and every device — in India.
