KOCHI: A state-of-the-art causality wing was opened at the Government Medical College, Ernakulam, on Friday. The project was launched by the BPCL Kochi refinery as part of their corporate social responsibility(CSR ) initiative.
District Collector M G Rajamanickam inaugurated the programme. The newly-opened causality which is sprawled over 6,426 sq feet will have facilities to cater to 20 patients. The project which costs `1.3 crore will also have a burns unit which will be launched next week, said Dr Junaid Rahman, special officer, Government Medical College. The new wing is also equipped with an air-conditioned operation theatre and a spacious consultation room.
There will be an observation room and a spacious lobby for the bystanders. Dr P R Geetha, principal, medical college presided over the event. Prasad K Panikker, executive director, BPCL Kochi refinery, Somasundaram, deputy general manager, BPCL Kochi refinery and RMO Dr Vipin Jeevan also spoke.
