NEW DELHI (India CSR): Nestlé India and SM Sehgal Foundation recently marked five years of Project Vriddhi in Nuh district, Haryana. Launched in 2019 in Rohira village, the project aimed to foster sustainable, community-led rural development. Over this period, it has directly benefited 18,000 individuals across 14 villages, focusing on water conservation, nutrition, education, and digital access.
Celebration of Milestone in Kaliyaka Village
The milestone was celebrated in Kaliyaka village, attended by local authorities, school representatives, panchayat leaders, and villagers who have experienced the project’s positive impact. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestlé India, highlighted the company’s dedication to social good. “At Nestlé India, we believe business can be a force for good. Project Vriddhi has brought meaningful change to these villages, enhancing water management, nutrition awareness, and digital learning, empowering communities to shape their own progress,” he said.
Achievements in Water, Agriculture, and Education
Since its launch, Project Vriddhi has achieved significant milestones. It has restored eight ponds with a combined storage capacity of 25 million liters, benefiting the water needs of the community. Over 1,000 farmers have been trained in sustainable agriculture practices, while six schools have seen infrastructure improvements, helping around 395 children acquire digital and life skills. Additionally, 280 women have joined nutrition groups, and 133 kitchen gardens have been developed to promote self-sufficiency in nutrition.
A Sustainable Vision for Future Development
Anjali Makhija, Trustee and CEO of SM Sehgal Foundation, expressed satisfaction with the project’s growth and community involvement. “Project Vriddhi has strengthened each year, and it’s fulfilling to see tangible impacts on rural communities. Village Development Committees are now overseeing these initiatives, ensuring their sustainability,” she shared. Through these committees, Project Vriddhi continues to drive lasting progress in rural development.
