GURGAON: Shiv Nadar School, (a not-for-profit initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation in K12 private education) announced the successful conclusion of its Conclave, a professional and leadership development program for all 500 teachers at the three schools. The Conclave is an initiative from the Shiv Nadar School to help its teachers continually upgrade their knowledge and skills to offer a holistic learning experience to the students. The theme for this year’s Conclave which commenced on June 26 was “Good to Great” and it was held at Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon. Teachers from across the three Shiv Nadar Schools in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida participated in the Conclave. Renowned leadership consultant, mythologist, author and speaker – Devdutt Pattanaik was invited as a Guest Speaker at the event.
Devdutt’s area of work includes simplifying mythology and connecting it to the modern day-to-day life. His interaction with the Shiv Nadar School teachers focused on helping them identify and understand lessons from Indian mythology that can be implemented to improve student-teacher relationships in order to help students become better learners.
Addressing the teachers, Devdutt Pattanaik, said, “It was my pleasure to address the teachers of the Shiv Nadar School today. I feel that the Guru – Shishya relationship is very complex and it is difficult to understand who teaches who in the entire process. Knowledge and learning needs to be transferred from one generation to the other and this is what makes mythology important.”
Speaking at the occasion, Col. (Retd) Gopal Karunakaran, CEO, Shiv Nadar School said, “At Shiv Nadar School, we constantly focus on improving the teaching-learning outcomes. In order to keep the quest for teaching and learning alive in our teachers, and help them continuously improve as a guru/mentor molding young minds, we regularly organize such training programs for them through the year. We are delighted to have Pattanaik interacted with the teachers and I am sure our teachers took away many lessons that they could carry into the classrooms.”
Devdutt brings with him great oratorical skills we well as leadership and management perspectives that are uniquely Indian and deeply influenced by mythology and traditions. He is the author of 30 books and 600 columns, with bestsellers such as My Gita, Jaya, Sita, Business Sutra and the 7 Secret Series.
