Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal to inaugurate India ESG Summit on May 31 in Mumbai 

This flagship summit will deliver a full day of expert-led sessions, keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, providing a truly unique look at India’s evolving ESG landscape, and the tools and tactics needed to engage socially and responsible.

Mumbai (India CSR): Hon’ble Narhari Zirwal, Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) will be the chief guest and inaugurate the India ESG Summit on May 31, 2002 (10 AM – 6 PM) in Mumbai. He will also deliver an inaugural address to the august gathering. The venue of the Summit is Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Near Mantralaya, Nariman Point, Mumbai. 

This year’s theme of the summit is “ESG for All: Sustainability First”. Topics of the summit are closely aligned with India’s environmental challenges, the COP26 agenda, and India’s commitment to climate change action. 

Narhari Sitaram Zirwal is a great mass leader who has dedicated his life to the welfare and uplifting of the lives of people, he has been currently serving as the deputy speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He is a three-term member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Dindori assembly constituency in Maharashtra state. He has been playing a significant role in making Maharashtra state socially and economically advanced.

Guest of Honour

Hon’ble Jayant Patil, Minister, Water, Resources Department & CAD, Govt. of Maharashtra will be presiding over the conference. He will deliver a talk at the august forum. He is the Cabinet Minister of the Water Resources Department in the Uddhav Thackeray ministry. He has been representing Islampur in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for more than 3 decades. He is also a state president of the National Congress Party (NCP). He has emerged as a promising young statesman in the state of Maharashtra and his progressive mindset is deeply rooted in India which is a marvelous blend of rural and urban cultures. Shri Patil has various dream projects at various levels for Maharashtra – specially in water. He is striving hard for a prosperous future for the Maharastra state.

Keynote Address

Sunil Jain, Operating Partner – Energy Transition, Essar Capital will deliver a keynote address. Sunil Jain is currently the Chairman, Energy Council, NRC at Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Indian Renewable Energy Alliance, a pan India association representing all the leading IPPs in the country. Sunil Jain has over three decades of experience across industries including renewable energy, automotive, infrastructure, manufacturing and cleantech. Currently he is an Operating Partner for Energy transitions at Essar.

He is a passionate advocate for sustainability and has been actively promoting stable and meaningful policies to enhance the cause of green energy. He has been involved in introducing new concepts of power selling in the Indian renewable sector especially wind. He has been associated with the Renewable Energy Industry for the last 14+ years and has been an advocate for the sector at various levels and with different government instrumentalities. Sunil Jain is currently the Chairman, Energy Council, NRC at Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Indian Renewable Energy Alliance, a pan India association representing all the leading IPPs in the country. Previously, he has also served as Founding President, Wind Independent Power Producers Association (WIPPA).

Special Guest

Dr. Rajiv Sharma, IAS (Retd.), Chief Advisor to Government, Govt. of Telangana will be a special guest of the summit. Dr. Sharma is presently the Chief Advisor to the Government of Telangana. As a part of his professional career of four decades, he has worked both in the state and central government and extensively dealt with issues in socio-economic development and public policy.

Dr Rajiv Sharma graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (erstwhile Roorkee University). He did his Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He also has a degree in Law.

Opening remarks and welcome address

Rusen Kumar, Founder of India CSR Network, and convenor of the India ESG Summit will give his welcome address. Rusen Kumar is a visionary knowledge entrepreneur, author and thought leader on CSR in India. Rusen Kumar is the founder of India CSR (indiacsr.in), a pioneering media network for corporate responsibility and sustainability (CSR) in India. He has been promoting and spreading awareness on CSR for over a decade. He is known for his passion and work towards CSR and Sustainability in India. He brings an understanding on governance, leadership development and strategic focus by serving for-profit and not-for-profit boards and as advisor to the chief executive officers. He is the author of 6 books (published).

The environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration landscape is evolving more quickly than ever in India. ESG considerations are now being adopted in the decision-making process to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
